A few weeks ago i went out to pick the wife up from my local asda where she works. so as i came to a stop at a junction in the car park a tosser in a reno megan reversed rite in to my rear passengers door ( didnt even look ):wtf: so i pulled the car to the other side of the road as i was blocking traffic and went over to him, he got out saying im sorry i didnt see you and me being a nice guy as usual said thats ok nobodys hurt thats the main thing. So we had a little chat and he said do i mind if he didnt go through his insurance as its in his dad name and he would kill him so insted he would pay by cash, i said no probs just give me your details and phone number and i will get in touch with you in the morning nwhen i get a price he did and that was about it he seemed on the level but somthing didnt seem rite to me so just be 4 i left i took his reg and he peeled away like a lune:undwech:. so the next day i went to three places and they said its going to cost between £250 and £450 to repair. I tryed all day to get hold of him but had no luckso i went to the cop shop round the corner from my house and told them what had happend and the cop said give it till the next morning as he might be in work or summin like that so i did.
Thae next day after loads of calls and texts i went to the main cop shop in the town centre to report him as a hit and run and it took them 2 and a half hours to send some one out to see me and when they did see me it took all of 10 minutes they just took my details and the details the driver gave me and gave me a producer and that was it. When it came time for me to produce i couldnt find my mot so to cut a long story short i went to the garage where i had it done and he said it ran out a week ago so you can imagine by now the mood i was in. i went to the police staition and produced with out the mot and they reported me for the offence and now im getting done for no mot even though it passed the net day with no advisorys and i cant do anything about the ***** who hit me be cause of

1. it was in a private car park
2. i had no mot
3. if i try and claim through my insurance then they will find out i had no mot and bang goes my insurance

any one out there know of how i can find this git by his reg number please i need help :sos:

Justice in this country SUCKS :sob:

I think if you go to the DVLA with the reg number, you can pay for his details to be released, thats what I think anyway.

Hmm I hope you can't just pay the DVLA for someone's details!

What about a good old wanted poster with reward! He obviously deserves the Lynching too.

Bad luck mate, never ever agree to settle outside of insurance companies and alway pay that little bit extra for 'no claims protection'....

I would go back to the Police,,, if they're unsure of an offence I would suggest Criminal damage, if they won't accept that I would ask to see someone a bit higher up the chain...!!

Unlucky mate, how long has your MOT expired? you say you have the other car's reg, I can't see how he can get away with it? What's the MOT got to do with the accodent?! YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE A CLAIM AGAINST HIS INSURANCE! And go get yourself a valid MOT now if you haven't already done so, to prove your car is roadworthy!

I had the same thing happen to my missus in a Tesco's carpark, guy wanted to do the deal in cash, and when he was being stubborn, I said insurance was the next step, so he tried to call my bluff. Took me over 12 months, but the police tracked him down, my insurance took him to court, and I got a full payout in the end, which is Justice!

Every days a school day eh?, make sure your cars MOT'd. How are they 'doing you'?

And I bet you're insurance wont be void because of the lack of MOT.

****** rotten luck mate. I agree with Tom though, no Mot shouldn't really invalidate your insurance....?

Thats not correct about the it being a private car park either - vehicle insurance will still cover you in there.

£2.50 and it's form V888

but you have to be able to prove you have just cause to the DVLA on why you are enquring

So a quick update,,,,,
Had a phone call this morning asking me to go down the police staition, when i got there the officer that i reported it to was waiting in the reception area for me with a very mean look on his face and thensaid im glad your here we need to talk.
So at this time i was bricking it, went into a interveiw room and he pulled out the file and said we have done some investigation and it turns out that the car that hit yours was on faulse plates, as the owner of the car has not left the area where he lives and no one else drives it. ( but he could not tell me where it is from but he did say not from here.
So he then went on to my mot ( or the lack of it at the time ) and what he said was it is an offence to drive without one but as it was in a private car park and my car was the only one that was damaged it is very unlikly that any more will come from it so count my self lucky and i should pay more attention to my documents and when they are due to be renewed.

As you can imagine im am a bit peed off as the git who done it has got away with it but more peed off that i go to report a crime and they give me the ****., i feel that they are not even going out any more to look for crime but waiting for you to bring it to them and then you get the worst end of it.
Dont get me wrong i respect the police and they do a hard job but a small number of them just dont care unless it involves a major drug dealer or some thing like that, I wish i could live in sunhill the police there solve the crime in half an hour and they take it to heart now thats what i call police'ing

I can understand why you're miffed but really what would you expect them to do?.

They have made efforts to contact the driver of the car (registered keeper anyway) and its turned nothing up. There's nothing else that can be done sadly.

Blame the tw&t that drove into you!.

As for the MOT, thats basics!.

After reading this and many other stories, i think the moral of the story nowadays is to just go through insurance.

Get a pic of the car, plates and the driver if you can, that way, at least you have 'something' to go on.

typical plod.go in to report a crime, which they aint bothered bout, and they do the innocent person wiyh something instead.

They have a pic of the car and the driver from asda petrol station and at the time when he hit my car.
I have a friend in the police he is a traffic cop he was on traffic cops the other day ,, Baxter ,, from south wales and he said theres not much he can do as he was not the officer who delt with it and from what he can gather the cop i reported it to has said to him but not in so many words that basicly coz i had no mot then i deserved every thing i got and he cant be ***** to waste his time on it any more.
I cant say anything about it coz he told me in private, My point is ( Yes the mot was my fault ) but i have had a lot of things go wrong latley and it was one of those things that just slips your mind,,, but why do people bother staying leagal when there are little to##ers out there that have nothing cause mayhem and get a slap on the wrists for it.

Yeah, its the Polices fault the other driver was on cloned plates. It was also the Polices fault because someone forgot to get their MOT...oh hang on.....

Its tough luck and a pain in the hole but make sure your documentations in order....lesson learned I'd say.

Oh, and I'm sure the f*cker that hit you will come unstuck one day.

Yep, I've learnt not to give a sh*t about peoples tales of woe and people deciding which laws do and dont apply to them and if they fit in with their plans or not ;)

@head.Typical.guess who youll run too when you get your car nicked etc.Sad post.

Actually, I've just noticed his location, things differ a bit over there!.

Now A3 tom may correct me here, but I was under the impression that if you drive with no MOT your insurance is invalidated if you have an accident? I could see where you would have a problem there, the insurance co. would claim he wouldn't have hit you if your car wasn't on the road because you had no MOT.
Hope they catch the scrote that hit you though.

I have never said that it was the police at fault just a small number of them just dont care and i always say that there should be less paper work so they can spend more time out on the streets to deal with crime

a3tom, are you really the exception to the rule, you must be the only true copper out there !!!!
i too know many coppers, your not telling me that the police service WE pay for now days really police as they should or used to ????
surely being a copper doesnt automaticly make you that naive. your all told what to do and what not to do now and policing is now ****** imho, revenue seems to be more important.
this isnt directly aimed at you so dont take it to personal but you must admit that its no longer what it should be.

Give me todays Police service over the one from 10 years ago any day of the week. People may moan (which is natural) but its better than its ever been, more transparant, better investigations, less corruption etc.

were you in the job 10 years ago? what service did you have at the time? As someone who was just coming to the end of their service then i'm afraid I find your comments both incorrect and offensive!

10 years ago is slighty before my time, however my dad is a retired gaffer with 35 years under his belt and my brothers currenlty on 15.

When I speak to both of them about how things are now and how my brother has seen things change (as did my dad up to when he left a few years ago) then I'll stand by what I've said. They're in agreement too....oh, as is my cousin who's wearing pips at the moment :) . For example, someone walks into the station to make a complaint, rather than be told to ****** off the complaint is taken...even if it is a load of rubbish.

Its also the general opinion of long serving members at work.

Perhaps things differ where you are but round here thats the general opinion :)

TBH having read this i can agree with the attitude of the Soth wales police. When i am in the wrong i get punished, fine, but even when i am right i get punished too,

So its each for their own out there now sadly IMHO and not the opinion of the site at all etc etc

Thats the issue Mark, depending on where you are depends on how you get treated which in my opinion is wrong. I'l bet that not all South Wales feds are bad though, however it only takes a few to paint everyone of them with the same brush. Same goes for every area, there are some right dicks that I have encountered here...however (honestly) they are thin on the ground.

Another thing is Policy and who uses what. We have policy which we use that our neighbours in Warks dont. For example getting stopped for 35mph in a 30mph zone would most likely result in an informal chat with us, however 2 miles down the road it would be 3 points and a fine.

People are getting treated in another way purely because of where they are and thats not good IMO.

A3 tom thats what i mean, if what i said came across offensive to you or anyone else then i appologise but i feel like i got dun on both side,, Yes my fault on the mot it was one of those things that slipped my mind so lesson learend. but had a police officer come to my door this morning telling me that if i threatern any one again then I will get nicked, and that was over the same person who had hit my bonnet with a hammer and all the friends ( About 8-9 of them last night ) got a slap on the wrists,, What happend was, the trouble makers in the street ( SCUM ) started up again last night kicking bins over Throwing bricks hitting the cars and peeing over them setting things on fire ect ect i phoned the police and after 45 min of this going on they were making their way over to my car ( still no police after 2 phone calls and i live 200 yards from a police staition ) so me and my german shepherd went out to them and i said to them if any of you druggy barstewards look at my car funny or touch my car you wont walk again now f off and do this sh#t out side your own homes ( as i am still fighting for compo for the first time they hit it ) i had a load of sh#t off them and they walked off 1 and a half hours later the police turned up and i went out to them and told them what happened and what i said and they said oh well coz they havent caught hem in the act and there are no witnesses there aint alot they can do and drove off. so this morning after being awake all night and dropping off my little girl at school i pulled up outside my house and there is a police car there when i got to the front door he walked up to me asked if i was who i was ect ect and said there has been a complaint made against me coz i threaterned some people and if it happens again i will be arrested. thats what get on my nerves it seem no matter what good people do they always seem to get the worst end of the stick while the scum get away with it and its wrong

@ Tazzy, not to be funny but Merthyr isn't the friendliest place on earth so I suppose the police have a hard time there.
I was surveying at the Tesco there two years ago, got threatened and then followed to my car where it kicked off, (dropped the one and two good smacks to the other who ran off).
The reason? the shout of English ******* gave me a clue.

Due to being a section 1 FAC holder I have to be the ultimate law abiding citizen or risk losing my license. I have always been polite and respectful to the police and they have always been the same to me. They don't have the easiest job and I for one couldn't do it. They don't know the mood of the situation before they arrive and if they get there and someone is mouthing off it will obviously have some bearing on how they deal with the situation.

Your situation sucks, and I sympathize. But if you have no MOT you are driving illegally, simple as. And that is not the fault of the police.

I'd make it my personal mission in life to hunt that ******* down and beat him. Teeth on the pavement and then stamp on head job.

They would think twice before doing it again.

I've been hit by someone who drove off twice before and it riles me so much. I've ended up £1200 quid out of pocket for those 2 incidents in the past :(
