Feedback for VMR RS4 Alloys for S3

Ouch !! that would hurt. Yes Air Freight is not cheap. Just have to wait for a UK supplier eventually I suppose ? Or are these American made only ?

I'm sure they're made in China, Taiwan, etc. as 95% of the alloys on the market are. No reason to think that means the quality won't be any good though. If a UK company was to import these in reasonable quantities, there's no reason to think the price would be crazy - not the cheapest I'm sure, but not BBS money. With a lot of US rims, they're imported one or two sets a time to the UK, so the prices end up too high.

^^^ Ian

Just phoned them 19 x 8.5 ET48's

VMR 708's in Hyper silver £950
VMR 710's in Hyper silver £950
VMR 715's in Hyper silver £1120

Still too close to BBS Money for my liking Ian. They're doing BBS CK's for £1203

I was quoted £1049.00 yesterday think thats + vat from Niche Wheels and without tyres

Just to let you guys know that if Niche are grabbing these from the USA then its deffo not going to be 10 days... i was told the stock might be later feb late march.

i was also quoted a price of $1,114 USD from VMR to get them directly.

Mike the prices above where all in (rims only) including VAT, Duty & Shipping to the UK - 10 days delivery.

Come on bonny lad, get some mods done!

Dont expect to see that SB at the next meet looking and driving std, that just wouldnt do.....

Without going too far off topic ( and I know this will have been covered many times before ) but whilst talking about lowering springs, what are the best ? As in giving similar ride to standard and compatible with stock shocks ?

Just looking ahead to what will be suitable for when I go for some 19" rims.

Cheers

(DISCLAIMER - Awesome haven't been particularly well spoken of recently ... but this is the cheapest price I believe.)

Thanks for the info N8. I've had a look on a few sites now and it can range from around £450 up to £650 depending on what and when posted.

For the VMR's it works out cheaper buying from Niche as mentioned above rather than buying direct. The guy form Niche did say that it also depended on how many wheels they were bringing in at once as they could reduce the shipping by up to £100 depending on quantity ordered. At least they were trying to pass on some savings which I thought was reasonable.

I'll keep fishing around until I make up my mind I think, also keeping an eye out on Edition38 to see if anything catches my eye ;)

Have you guys asked for a small group buy price as I am interested in these wheels also and Niche are about 20 mins from me. I am not bothered about having to wait if they are out of stock until late feb either as I was gona purchase some in March.

I will have set of these too. Ive been looking for these in the uk for well over a month now for my black edition. Why dont we arrange to purchase direct on a group buy and get them shipped at the cheapest possible way. Im sure we could get a good deal for over 5 or 10 sets???

Just spoken to Gareth at Niche, he will do a deal for group buy and said they are in stock and will take 5 days turn around to get over here from the states.
He is just emailing me a quote now with medium and premium tyres..

I've got an email address for one of the guys at VMR, much cheaper than Designer Wheels!

He's really helpful and tolerated me changing my mind every minute

Drop me a PM and i can give it to you

Top notch service, just recieved my v710's recently:

By the way, i paid a total of $1326 incl shipping for my wheels, then another £240 for the UK customs

Ok he emailed me back with £999 delivered without tyres, i asked for quote with but hey ho, we know how much we can get tyres for here.
He said he'll do a deal for multi buy, if we can get a number together and go to them with it and see what he can do.
Goign direct sounds good though, we will obviously get a better deal as cutting out middle man.

So assuming that price is total without any additional incurred charges for Import tax ?

I agree with the quote above..Always best to ask for them direct especially for group buys. Somebody email vmr asap!

are these fitted yet? they are :hubbahubba: get some pics up as id be well interested in a set... esp if you lot are doing a group thing!

OK this is with Modbargains.com for 5 sets and 10 sets respectively, i spoke with a guy there just now.
5 sets of V708 = $5330 delivered to Heathrow. This = £660.20 per set before uk tax.
10 sets of V708 = $10420 delivered to Heathrow. This = £645.40 per set before uk tax.

For 1 set it was $1161.61 delivered to Heathrow. This = £719.94 before tax.

This is using standard shipping charge that they use but no discount on the shipping, its the same if you bought 1 set or 20 sets, $362 per set. Sure this can be cheaper. Im not exactly sure what the UK customs tax would be on 5 or 10 sets. It would still be cheaper than Niche unless we contact him for a price on multiple sets.

VMR dont open until 6pm GMT or id have called them too.

the onyx black and matte black are $25 dearer per wheel but that will come down if bulk bought.

Not yet, trying to decide what colour to get as black doesnt go with Lava grey

The prices I quoted earlier were direct from VMR.

The taxes work out IIRC from the quote I recieved at 4% import duty, plus 17.5% VAT, plus shipping costs.

So if they quoted $999 for the rims (£618)

Plus shipping at $362 (£224) - if there is no taxes on the shipping?

Plus Import tax @ 4% £24

Plus VAT (£75)

Total cost =£941 - direct from VMR :icon_thumright:

Therefore if the above quote from modbargains is correct and my sums and %'s are correct & the info below is correct

For 1 set it was $1161.61 delivered to Heathrow. This = £719.94 before tax.

The the total cost of these £719 +4% import + VAT = £835 :nyah:

I cant understand how they can offer them over £100 cheaper - maybe shipping in bulk ?

Would love to be part of a group buy gents, but just found out today my S3 will not be delivered until mid-May now , so will not be able to store a set of rims for next 4 months.
Best of luck for your purchase though, and look forward to the photo's when you get them installed

hey guys, im in on this too, ( V710) and have been speaking to VMR (ty) and also Gareth at Niche. i dont know how many that is now, but the numbers must look good for a group buy now. I wanted the gunmetal matte powdercoated which is an extra but i think worth it. let me know. thanks

if there is no taxes on the shipping?

There are taxes on shipping. You need to get the cost of the wheels, then add shipping, then add duty, then add VAT.

Ahh ok Pete - so then a quick recalc

Direct from VMR = £1028

I still think that's too far on the ££ side to be honest - they're only £300 away from these (Niche are doing them for £1300)

Although I cant get this picture out of my head as it just looks right (VMR708's)

But my shipping was £400? Which doesn't seem so lucky?

Was that back in the day before Sterling was f*cked? We're at 1.6 USD to 1.0 GBP right now - when Sterling was say 20% higher, shipping would have been 20% cheaper.

Why dont we all go to Gareth from Niche on a bulk order, 1 person put the order in for all our wheels, we all pay seperately direct to him over the phone or however you want and he will ship all the wheels to our own given location.
He offered £999 delivered for 1 set to my door for V708's.
We put a bulk order of whatever VMR' you want and we all save.

I dont mind getting in touch and getting a quote if everyone puts down what they want.
Alternatively we go the states route and order direct but that was there is a little bit of messing about getting the wheels where we want them.
Just a thought...

im almost certain id get involved.. set of v713's for me please.. not sure what colour though

I totally agree. If you have been quoted £999 just for the one set then surely ordering 5+ will almost certainly reduce the price. My only concern before was we all ordering a set of these wheels and paying almost double of what they were actually worth, which if was the case I was going to suggest we all get a group buy on some BBS wheels which would mean buying more expensive wheels which are worth more for a reduced price. Get a price for 5+ of VMR's and see what they say, I am expecting a good discount hehe. Only problem is I didn't really want my wheels until March but would be quite happy to put a deposit down but anyways, get a price! :)
