Hi,

My washer fluid for the rear wiper is not coming out.

The pump is working tho..... Is this going to be that same issue that Mk4's had??? i.e pipe falling off?

Cheers in advance.

Doh!!!

So where is it likely to have popped? in the tailgate?

How does one access it just the two screws that hold that plastic in?

I believe its usually just as it goes into the wiper motor so i'm afraid the tailgate will need the trim removed. IIRC there are two screws & then you have to pry the trim off. Its those horrible spring clips that make a scary cracking noise! Once off you should be able to see the motor.

mines stopped working too, motors whirring away, i'll have to dismantle the tailgate tomorrow then!

To both of you, I'd do it sooner than later as another member (sorry forgot name) found the water had damaged the contacts in the boot lock.

It does miss the practicality of having a rear wiper, now that mines de-wipered, the back windscreen is usually filthy all the time :Flush:

I need to do mine as well... might do it now!

How did you get on mate? I took my tailgate trim off but all was well, the pipe ws still connected fine, i took it off to see if there was a blockage in the motor tried the wash but no water coming out of the end of the pipe!

I'm stumped now, must have come apart somewhere else along the car, maybe the motor itself?

Good news is my Lupo one stopped doing it too, took that apart today and that had popped off! Suprising to see the motor in the lupo and the A3 are identical, water connections, everything! Even the tailgate trim fits on the same way!

hi all. had the same issue earlier on in week. took off back trim but all was ok (wasn't fun at all, it's still not been put back on if that gives you an indication)
ended up the pipe at the bottle had came off. front was working fine but was noticing all my fluid was disappearing when back was used. i'd check if theres signs of water around boot area.
fixing the pipe was a case of removing wheel and unscrewing the plastic inner wing enough to let me get in. i'm a wee guy and there isn't much room.hope this helps

Mine is the same...Been like that for a few months now....Took the 2 screws out yesterday but tried to take the trim off and wouldn't budge...But it sounds like you have to really give it some to get it off

just been out again, filled the bottle to the brim and squirted the rear wash, water went down so the motors working fine, only problem was that i noticed 2 nice big puddles appearing under the drainage holes in the drivers side sill, one puddle in front of the rear wheel which seemed a bit bigger than the puddle behind the front wheel, how do i get to the pipe, is it under the interior sill trim? its obviouslt keaking somewhere along the sill.

i no this sounds really silly, but it could just the jets blocked, remove the pipe going into the arm and blow up it and once you can blowe through it jobs sorted

Just done mine then... I went the long way round, took the trim off and detatched the hose, attached a beaker to the hose and tested it to make sure water was coming out (it was), then stuck a needle down the hose inlet, still wasn't working, then stuck a needle down the actual holes that shoot the water from and that fixed it, lol.

Well I had no water coming out so different problem to yours! Doh!

i stuck my hand in and got a mate to operate back wiper. felt the water come out at some rate.
pipe was lying at front of bottle nearest front grill. when i looked down from top of engine all i could see was a small drip.
i was a bit shocked when i felt how fast it eas coming out from bottle

Update!

Finally fixed mine today and what a ball ache it was! I had water coming out of the drainage holes in the sill so i thought i'd check the bottle first as that seems an easy fix, took the wheel off, liner out, no issue, fixed onto the bottle tight! Water was also coming out in front of the rear wheel so took that off too, took the liner out and no signs of it under there! I was on the verge of taking it to a garage!

2 hours and a cup of tea later i decide to go back out and face the cold and strip the boot trims out. Had a look, looks complicated, nowhere obvious to start undoing stuff so i take all the boot carpet out and notice its damp! Now i'm sure the problem is someehre behind there! Couldnt see where to start so thought i'd attack from the top. Took the boot seal off and removed the upper rear quarter panel (above parcel shelf) Only broke one clip but you need to take some of the roof lining down and also the big trim that fits across the rear of the headlining. Managed to pull it down enough to see a pipe! There is a join behind there so used 2 pairs of pliers to stick it back together and job done! All working again!

Does anyone know the route the pipe takes from the washer bottle to the rear of the car.
Mine stopped working during the cold weather and I think it may have just blown off the bottle. Water in the pipe may have frozen and caused a temporary blockage. I'm now getting a puddle at the front of the car when I operate the rear washer.

Yeah take your front wheel off, undo the arch liner and you will see the bottom of the bottle, you should see where it has come off. If your leeking under the front of the car then i'm 100% thats your problem.

If your interested it runs down the inside of the wing, on top of the sill all the way round the rear wheel arch up the rear quarter and then into the rear hatch hinge. once its left the bottle you will see how it goes into th cabin, none of it after that is accessible from the exterior.
