evening everyone!
i know this has prob been covered loads of times, but i am interested in changing the standard diverter valve on my 225 s3,am i right in thinking this is the one to go for that dosnt create loads of noise, and also keeps the turbo spinning between gear change???
also iv heard some people changing the springs in the forge ones if they are wanting a remap, would i also need to do this if i wanted a remap in the future?

CHEERS!!!!

Yes correct 007p is a recurc valve so literally no noise(can be heard a little if running a aftermarket panel filter)

Also helps turbo spool up.

Yellow spring is recomended when you remap the car as this will cope better with the higher boost pressure

tried to pm you but you dont accept pm's..??

Yeah the 007pa is the one to get.

Alot of people tend to stick with the standard green spring even after remapping but you can get yellow springs once remapped, ive got 2 greens, 2 yellow, 1 blue and 1 red in the garage lol.

can you tell if your not using the right spring? if so how?

CHEERS LADS,IL GET ONE ORDERED TOMOZ AND FIT IT AT THE WEEKEND,AND IL JUST GET A NEW SPRING WHEN I GET ROUND TO GETTING THE CAR MAPPED LATER IN THE YEAR,I TAKE IT ITS JUST A SIMPLE SWAP OVER?

you will find a yellow will hold better peak boost as green(standard) is basically just for standard boost set up

s3bam thats not true, alot of people said the green spring held better and felt more torquey/responsive.

VAG engines arent to bad with springs unless running say 24+ the other example focus rs (run same valve) if youve got the wrong spring in they will run like sack of *****..!!!

In all the tuned vags ive had always ran a yellow spring on stage 1/2

do yaself a favour....find the cheapest one on the net then approach ya local supplier and mention that price....JBS reduced theirs for me and i saved a tenner IIRC.... better in your pocket ;)

The spring shouldn't make much of a difference if you run the 007 in the same position as the standard bosch DV. If however you reverse the 007 DV the boost pressure is then pushing against the spring and this is where the spring makes the difference. I did some diags with VCDS with my 007 in normal position and reversed with a yellow spring and that was peaking and holding 22PSI. The only difference I noticed was that when logging in the normal position the boost would climb ever so slightly quicker than in the reversed position. You also get a bit more noise in the reversed position but its an annoying whistle more than a pishhhhh noise.

Westle - I'm running my Forge DV reversed. What spring should i be using?

Also, what are these shims about in the DV? DPM sell them in the DV spring kit.

Cheers :)

The shims are to allow you to make your own spring effectively. If you want to run a stronger spring than a green, but not as strong as a yellow, then you can add a shim to the green spring to make a happy medium...

With a stage 1 remap i've found that a yellow spring will hold 22psi fine with a yellow spring. I've never tested with a green spring but some have said that the DV can creep open slightly with it at high boost.

Blimey, i thought you stick a DV in and you're all done. Never thought about these shims and springs! I've got a stage 1 map with reversed 007p dv. What spring should i use and how many shims should i use? Just want to get the best out of it! :)

Thanks

I seem to lose a little bit power in high revs. Just had a full exhaust system done which has helped this alot! But i'm thinking could spring in the dv affect anything?

My VCDS logs show that my boost starts to drop off at around 4500rpm and is at its lowest (16psi) by the time I reach 6000rpm! I've logged it with normal DV and reversed and they are both the same. I can see that my boost is tailing off because the fuel is leaning off at the top of the rev range. I think a silicone TIP and a FMIC will sort this out. I should think yours will be a similar story, I would doubt the spring would be the problem.

hope that helps

dont be too concerned about the TIP collapsing under load....we are yet to find a car that does this...... most are either re-enforced already as OEM (with some sort of metal) or they are very robust rubber..... silicone TIP will give a slightly better air flow.... but isnt something id pay more than £70 for

whats the difference with reversing the dv? do you mean off the cold side?

Nope, it means to take the DV out, and turn it on it's side basically so that the pipes are the opposite way around than they were initially. Makes no performance difference, just a bit more of a din. Forge even say you can run it either way round depending on your preference...

oh right might have to give it a go! i didnt realize you could do it either way! does it make a noise if you do it in reverse

Yeah it makes a darth vader kind of noise one way and more of a high whoosh the other. Don't think it makes much difference but always thought it's best to keep it the correct way personally.

The boost runs through through the valve differently in the reverse position where it actually pushes against the spring and can open the valve if the spring isn't strong enough. In reverse you get a girly hi pitched whistle noise when you let off instead of the whoosh noise you get normally.

oh we don't like girly whistles do we :)

whooshing is the future...you heard it here first!!

Quick question with regard to spring choice, if you were to fit a DV with yellow springs on standard S3 would this have a negative impact? iam thinking as to having a remap in the future, if the car would run on with yellow springs then could save money buying that straight away?

Hi i have a audi a3 1.8t 205.8 bhp with a pipercross panal filter 007 forge valve what spring should i use i have been using the 1 it came with ???
