2012 & Avatar

Just got back from seeing Avatar and I agree with the comments above ... awesome film!

Agree with all the praises above.

An absolutley exceptional masterpiece. I didnt even realise it was on for as long. None stop action, the plot did have some predictable moments, but it didnt really matter nor spoil the film.

I'd also add it to one of the best films I've ever watched category.

Then there was the 3d which just puts the turbo on the engine, cherry on the cake or any other metaphor you care to use. F''''ing brilliant.

I went with a mate this week and am going tohave the kids babysat and take the wife to watch it this week.
I cant imagine what it would be like on imax!

Just to add 2012 wasn't that great. Not a total waste of time but not the best. Probably a 5/10 for effort, good special effects, cheesy storyline, predictable ending from the opening sequence.

I think this is going to be the first film ever to crack $2bn.

It's monumental the numbers that Avatar is producing! Titanic used to be the fastest and most grossing film of all time. Here's some numbers to play with...

Titanic grossed $430m in it's 11th week on the screens in the US. Avatar has hit that in the 4th week!!!

Avatar is now the second highest grossing film worldwide, behind Titanic. Titanic hit $1.8bn in 41 weeks. Avatar is now at $1.3bn and it's only in week 4!!

I think I can guess the entire storyline from the trailer!
You don't need to guess if you've ever seen Disney's Pocahontas...

Thanks for that, absolutley STUNNING figures, nice to see Cameron was behind both of them!

Forget the plot- just revel in that amazing 3D - I don't think I've ever sat through a film this long and never noticed the time before. I saw it in MK and there was an advert immediately before the film, I think for Cadbury's, something to do with coffee anyway, and a head apeared to come out of the screen and move about half way up the auditorium -- awesome!

Seen Avatar twice now, what an amazing film, great scenary and special effects and a good story....what more could you want?!! Is it worth watching in 3D?

You've seen it twice in non 3D?! Definately worth watching in 3D! If you liked the special effects then they'll blow you away in 3D!

Still aint seen either of these yet, hoping to get to watch Avatar in 3D soon!!!

Well, it's done it! Avatar is officially the highest grossing film of all time. Beginning of last week it broke Titanic's worldwide record which was $1.843bn and a week later it became the first movie to break the $2bn mark (now stands at $2.048bn and counting). Today it broke Titanic's domestic record of $600m. It took Titanic 41 weeks to get those figures and Avatar has broken them in under 7! Yes 3D tickets are more expensive but I still think that's phenomenal!

How far it will go will depend on how long they keep it on the screens. I've read that they plan on bringing it out on DVD/Blu-ray end of June time. So thats about 27/28 weeks max at the cinema in total. Apparently they won't be bringing it out in 3D to begin with because the tech on home cinema's won't be good enough, so they are holding out on it until TV's catch up.

They're also in talks with Cameron for Avatar 2 and even Avatar 3!! I don't know about you guys but I'm quite happy leaving it with just the one! High risk of spoiling a perfectly good movie!

I'm not surprised, I know a few people who have gone to watch it twice! I nearly watched it again on Tuesday, but couldn't make it on time to watch it at the IMAX theatre in town.
