Hi there,

I'm in the same boat, looking at trade in for a black edition, no deals as of yet! Dealers being quite stubborn!!!

If your not in a mad rush be stubborn back and tell them what will make you sign!!!

Paul

I've just bought a Sportback A3 2.0td Black edition. I've managed to get over £3500 off, plus the first service for free. (Admittedly, this was mates rates). I also got significantly more for my p/x than other dealers offered. This was to clear the car in the showroom, so I didn't have a choice of options. However, when I was looking, I rang around the country and was offered pretty rubbish deals. The dealers didn't even want to deal on pre-reg used cars.

I was told that Audi had such a good december they had to stop taking new car orders and defer them to january. You might be better waiting till nearer the end of the month, when these deals have gone through. Your best bet would be to sell your own car first. With the Drive the Deal discount, ir could even make sense to have a look at the price the likes of 'We will buy your car' will offer. (Especially if you've got something that would be easy for them to sell on)

To follow on from the other day, I now have a massive predicament, albeit quite a good one....

I have a 7% discount on offer through a PCP from one dealer or a 17.5% VIP offer on the table from Preston Audi (thanks to my uncle)....

However if I buy through my uncle, he will have to buy it, then change over to me (an additional driver), and then I will have to find the money to pay him back, where as the whole point of me getting one on a PCP was to have small monthly payments.

Do I pass up the 10% difference on the deal for smaller payments or is there another way that I haven't thought of? Also the dealer offering 7% has said they will not go any higher than that and recommended me to buy through my uncle. Is he calling my bluff?

Thanks

Paul

Ok to start a quick question can your uncle get 17.5% off and go finance?
If he can then can you not just set your credit/debit card up to make the payments, either to him or set it up from purchase to Audi.
Surely just because its registered in his name doesn’t mean it has to be his name on the account that’s paying for it.
Well that’s my thoughts, hope it helps

The additional 10% discount is quite a signifcant amount of cash - your uncy is clearly well connected! Is there no way they will offer the discount whilst letting you finance the car?

Otherwise, look at a bank loan, as even if you have to juggle things around a bit, the extra couple of grand you save should make it worth the bother?

On a VIP package the car has to be bought out right, so that is out of the question....

The VIP package, is for people who are cashed, lol, my uncle is a footballer so they expect them to buy them outright.... I was told today by Manchester Audi, that Wayne Rooney gets 20% discount on his VIP Package....

Thanks for all input, just  what to do......

I think the loan is the best bet, will the extra driver for the straight swap do much on the depreciation of the car?

Makes no sense really - the dealer profits from finance, so in their interest to put on finance. Aah well!

A straight swap straight away could look a bit fishy, and would need explaining when the time comes to sell the car. Nobody wants anything out of the ordinary when buying a car, so it has potential to put people off.

If it was me and I trusted my uncle, I'd be inclined to leave it in his name for 6 months, then transfer over - that way it looks like a regular sale. Don't forget, the V5 shows the registered keeper of a vehicle - not who the owner is - there is a difference there.
