Hi guys. I've been on a couple of the other Audi forums for a while now and have just come across this one. Looks like another nice home for me to chat to some like-minded Audi enthusiasts!:icon_thumright:

So, my first thread isn't even for me. I have a mate who's just been offered a 2005 05 plate A4 3.0 tdi SE quattro avant and I was wondering if you guys could give us an idea of whether the price is right or not? Full spec as follows:

67k on the clock
FSH
Sat-nav
Lowered (don't know what on or by how much)
19" alloys
Superchipped
Grey metallic
Dark cloth trim

The guy is asking 12k for it.

Any idea if that's high / low / about right?

Cheers in advance!

I'd say that is about right as its a quattro ask him to come down to £11.5k and your mate has got a good deal.

Make sure he gets it all checked out thou mate even try to see if the seller will let you run diagostics on it see if there's any errors running on it..:blackrs4:

IMHO thats high after seeing better spec'd ones go for less, but do some research on autotrader mate & parkers etc.

That does seem a bit steep, I got my 55 reg s-line from a garage for less than that. Similar spec but a few more miles (only about 15k more).

Really, you guys think this is steap for an Avant? Maybe it is for an SE I'm not sure.

Rowdyboy when did you get yours?

I've been looking for a while but can't find one in the right spec / price / mileage etc.

Prices are all over the place though it seems based on mileage, spec and how desperate the seller / garage is.

I got mine in March, so had it nearly a year now, it has FASH and one owner. To be honest I think I just stumbled across a really good deal because I too could not find another anywhere bear the price I paid and still can't. The SE should fetch lower money and I personally would pay slightly less for a modded one aswell. It's all about the Market at the time, if that's what they are going for now then that's what you have to pay. Remember second hand values have been rising recently. I got mine during the height of the so called "credit crunch".

Sounds pricey to me.

I found mine by accident at an Audi dealer about 150 miles from me and i negotiated the price down via phone and email lol.

When i actually went to see it i had already made the deal and i bought it there and then, it was alot of fun driving back too.

Remember though that the 3.0 TDIs seem to hold their money better than most other engines, although for 12k i would expect it to be an S-Line.

My advice would you be dont rush and keep your eyes out and just wait, it took me a while but eventually the right one found me, i was lucky because 2 days before i almost bought one for the same price i paid for mine and it was half the spec and from a dodgy garage.:hubbahubba:

Agreed, definately all about the market at the time. I think the fact we where in more of a resetion back then will have helped you with the purchase too. Doubt you'd lose any money of you sold now either as they seem to have risen a bit since. I did previously see some S Line Avants for lower prices, but now a lot of them seem to be between £13k and £16k with around 60K miles, and good spec - grrrr!

Is your's manual or tiptronic and what spec level is it out of interest?

Yeah you definately did well there, and as said by Rowdyboy mentioned I think you both benefitted from the fact it was 'slightly' more of a buyers market earlier last year.

Did you find yours on the Audi used car site or via a different method? I thought I'd found one at Statford Audi with an acceptable spec just before Christmas, but they didn't email the pictures, despite chasing them and eventually said they'd had loads of interest and it had sold - grrrr again!

The Avants always hold a slightly higher premium, but I agree the larger / rarer engine depreciates better, which at least is better for us come resale.

I'll bear in mind the negotiation over the phone and email if I find one that's a fair distance away.

What spec is yours and would you mind PMing me a rough idea of what you paid to give me a betyter idea? Appreciate you may not want to spalsh it about on the forum etc.

Any must have features you guys suggest?

Hi mark yes i found mine through the audi used car search thingy and then went from there.

I phoned and checked it was still available then contacted the dealer via email.

I was contacted by one of the sales guys who i then emailed over the space of a week asking questions about everything, as the car was to far to travel before confirming certain things.

After i had confirmed the spec, number of owners, documentation, history etc i made an offer which they declined.

I gave it a few days without saying anything and then they rang me and said am i still interested, i said yes for the original offer and they agreed.

I then managed to get 12 months free tax, a free valet and free supaguard paint protection applied.

We went to view the car to confirm we were happy and to talk face to face and i left a deposit and then came back a few days later when the car was ready.

My car is a 2006 (56) Audi A4 3.0 Tdi TDV S-Line Quattro with 38,000 miles on the clock.

1 previous owner, Full service history with Audi.

RNSE Sat Nav with Bluetooth and MP3, Auto Lights, Auto Wipers, Full leather interior with Electric Memory Seats, Exterior mirrors: with memory function, automatically dimming, electrically foldable/adjustable/heated, rear parking sensors, Cd Changer, 10 speaker Bose System, Maritus Blue pearlescent Paint.Limited Edition 18" S-Line Alloys.

I think thats it, all for £16k

That was the plan I had in mind for the one at Stratford, but as it was Christmas they didn't send the pictures, so I couldn't start the negotiations and now it's too late. Oh well, whilst they are rarer cars, they are about so one will come up at some point.

Sounds like you got a good deal, especially as the mileage is so low. Is yours a single colour interior or the black and grey like the specail editions?

cheers for the replies guys!

i'll pass this on to my mate. from what you've said, it sounds like it's slightly overpriced and he should barter to get the price down.

thanks again

BTW Dan, the B5 Avant in your sig looks spot on mate.

Its black and grey mate.

Although im not happy as its missing the s-line logo on the steering wheel and doesnt have embosed seats!

Dazmo, does it have the S Line logo'd sill plates? I assume not, I can't see any B7 S Lines with those three items except the special edition ones. I think there was an interior S Line option which not many owners opted for, unlike the 8P A3's. Not too bad though.

No mate it does'nt, although i feel all three should have been standard on a s-line really!

Cheers mate! :icon_thumright:

Just bought a pair of K04 turbos, new injectors, fuel pump, pipework, etc for it too :whistle2:

That thing is going to be flying with those mods mate.
