Thanks for the replys and the Salesman's names which will come in handy! Hopefully get 10% minimum. There seems to be huge differences in options prices, £700 for the bucket seets is a bargain from Edinburgh! Does adding more etras usually mean bigger discounts or does it just depend on whether or not the saleman is in a good mood the day you go in??!

Hi all. Been lurking for a while while I decided what my next car was going to be. Finally ordered a Misano red 2.0d Sportback BE yesterday. It was in stock, so had to have the options already specced which were the i-pod dock (I'm the only person in the world without an i-pod 
) and the GSM phone prep.
Got a good deal. Just under £4000 off list and first service for free. (As well as a good p/x offer)
The GSM phone system apparently gives bluetooth and access through the steering wheel controls. However, the salesman stated that a cradle for my specific phone is available for......£100

Went to glasgow Audi yesterday at Braehead and so far very disapointed! Spec of car ( S3 Sb BE) was arround 32.5K and salesman said i'd be doing very well if i got a 1K discount and also said that i would be dissapointed with what they;d offer me for my 57 plate 140 s-line SB with a few extras. He wouldnt commit to a price and asked if i could get back to him after i had a deal on the table from Aberdeen Audi. He also did not believe that Edinburgh Audi or any other Audi dealer could be giving anything like 10% discount. Told me that they have just been told by the big boss to try not to give discount!! Is this just a load of bull or are they trying to clamp down on deals??! Oh and they have just put prices up 1% on top of the 2.5% vat increase!!
dealers will fleece you and say no deals for ages, just walk away.

I hate car dealers, cars are not selling in big numbers dealers are empty.
why get back to him after the aberdeen deal ? tell him to pi55 off.
don't even get into talks about the trade in, just say you want best price on a new car, and once the price has been agreed then move onto what they would give you for yours.
do it this way not the dealers way.

Remslie, my advice is to shop around. I had a tough time trying to buy an S3, its taken 3 months of looking every day! BUT i put a deposit down yesterday on an SB S3 well chuffed . I would give Jamie a call at Liverpool Audi, he was incredibly helpful and I got a cracking deal. Good money for my A3 SB against a demonstrator. I had tried a handful of Audi dealers in the last 3 months, all being very hard work but my experience so far with Liverpool has been first class. Sorry to hear about Lomond offering a p*sh deal. I am looking to order soon for a S3 SP BE and Lomond are my nearest dealer, where i bought my current car from as well. My proposed spec at the moment is looking pretty expensive, so with what you have said here I don't hold out much hope of managing to get a good deal from them. You would think that at the moment they would be biting your hand off to strike a deal, as the VAT rise will not bode well for the first quarter of the year.
How was your offer at Aberdeen Audi ?

I'd say you should leave your details, wait a week or two till any 'delayed' deals are done and then see what they say.
There are deals available if you've got the patience.

Alright mate, confirmed build week 5 for the S3 BE. Should expect delivery 1st/2nd week March apparently out of Aberdeen Audi. Really looking forward to it now. In the envious position of being in a 2008 S3 already, but can't wait for my new, "un-owned one". We do need to sort a local meet, it'll be rude not to.

At last managed to place my order for new S3 with Glasgow Audi this morning. The butterflies have started in the stomach already, so god knows how i am going to be able to wait until mid March for delivery !! Got a really good deal to be honest with great price for trading in my A3 SB, BE, 140PD
