Just bought one of these bad boys! Been looking for one for ages, and got a great deal on a brand new one. Just need to wait for it to turn up now!

Few questions, since I’m going from a non-function wheel to a multi-function one I think I will need a new steering wheel wiring loom? Can anyone advise, or maybe have a part number for the right one?

Also, anyone know of a guide of how to swap them over? Been looking around but can’t really find any. Also any heads up on the VCDS coding I will need to do to get everything working with my RNS-E etc?

I’ll take some pics when I install it to help everyone else…

Thanks guys and happy New Year to you all! :arco:

Look's very nice where did you get it ...? Ebay

Cheers!

Here's a guide for an A4, but you'll get the idea.

Look at the bottom of this page for how to strip an A3 steering column, with pics of the A3 steering ECU.

You may need a new steering ECU and slipring, including small loom behind the airbag. Ask for part numbers and pricing in the stoke Audi section. Dave's a good chap who knows his stuff.

The vagcom bit is easy, (code the steering ECU correctly and the RNSE for MFSW) but as you'll have had the wheel off you'll need to run a steering angle calibration.

Whilst your in there why not fit a cruise stalk too.....

This is the badge you need.

You shouldnt need a loom, just plugs in.

you will need a loom if the wheel doesn't come with one between the airbag and steering wheel.

However, if you have bought them together, it is likely that the loom will be in
there.

When I changed my wheel over,I never had to do this. I just drove the car a a hundred yards and it all reset itself . I haven't had any problems , so should I have done this John?

I will be very surprised if a MF wheel is supplied without being wired. Therefore as i said he will not need to purchase a loom.

Do you have the details of the seller? I'm after one as well :)

Thanks very much guys, The SW I've got comes complete with a new airbag so i think it should have a loom? I was thinking more along the lines of needing a new loom for the MF, as my current wheel does not have it?

I've been told that my steering ECU and slip right are fine (got the part numbers from a VCDS scan) so it should be pretty much plug and play?

Thanks again guys!

very nice mate! Just wondering how a lambo wheel would be like compared to the rs6 one, am sure its a straight fit and just change the badge, see pic you'l know what I mean:

I just didnt expect audi styling in a lambo, same RNS-E, dual air controls steering wheel etc

Just look at this! £35+ for a badge! I bet its cheaper to buy from Audi direct! Anyone know the part number?

Cheers
Matt

Its euros so its about £30 with P&P. Thats what i paid from this guy, couldnt find it cheaper :crying:
You need to fit the badge before you fit the wheel to the car remember !

OK, cheers Paddy. Cant you change it while its on the car?

Thanks
Matt

its fitted from the inside of the wheel and held in place by the chrome trim surround. I suppose it could be done in situ but you need to get the airbag off to get the chrome trim off. Just easier to while off the car.

OK, cheers better get it ordered!

If the warning lights went out then I guess you're OK. Does a VCDS scan reveal any DTC codes?

Cheers John. As my steering ECU and SR is fine, i should be ok to fit it and just code it up? Looks like i wont need a new loom for the MF as it should come with the wheel?

Hopefully it should be here by Wednesday!

Cheers

I want!!!

How much did you pay for this wheel then mate?

Please let us know how it goes, as i would like to do this at some point! I also have a bog basic steering wheel, im guessing this is the one you currently have? I have no buttons or anthing on mine a moment :(

Yes, all the lights went out after a 100 yards or so. I then rescanned with vcds and there was no fault codes shown . (apart from my friggin rear electric window motor as always :O) )

Dont worry , you will be fine.

I did the same upgrade as yourself, I had the correct ecu and slipring, and it was simply plug and play with a little bit of coding.

Once you have fitted it, you wil realise it is easy peasy :salute:

It was about £570 which I thought was ok considring its brand new and comes with a brand new airbag. I've seen standard used S3 wheels go for £600 on eBay!

Yep, I’m upgrading from a poverty spec wheel (aka, no buttons!) to the item of desire above!

I'll let you know how it goes...

I bought my S-Line for £11 from Awesome GTI.

Thats more like it mate! I'll get in touch with them....

Your dont know the part number do you?

Cheers
