Hmm, I am not sure if this is a biggie or not.

Can anyone advise?

The story goes, my two year old is a car fanatic, he loves 'daddy car' and always has to have the keys.

Tonight, as usuall he demanded the keys to the Audi when I came home from work and Abby my wife gave him them. The next 20 mins are spend with him locking and unlocking the car via remote while he watches the lights flash through the cat flap!

I go outside for a fag about ten mins ago and realise the A4 is unlocked, so I open the boot, and the alarm starts to beep.

Run inside, grab the keys and hit unlock to turn off the alarm before it goes bonkers!

After alarm is off, I hit lock again. I hear the gentle whir of the air as usuall but the lock pins dont go down and the car is still ope, but the little LEDs are flashing to signify that the car is locked.

I have obviously tried to lock it via remote a few times but no dice.

What damage do you think is done?

What do I need to do?

Thanks

overheated the graphite impeller in the pump causing it to shatter?

Usually happens with a leak as the pump runs for far longer than normal, but repeatedly opening and closing the car would probably produce similar effect?

Impeller damage as Craig said, PM old_skool he has kits for a reasonable amount of money that can fix this without the need for messy re coding

Oh, ok, where would I find the Graphite Impeller?

How do I know if it is ******?

I will PM Mr Old_Skool asap. What kind of money do I need to buget for to buy the bits? Is it a tough job?

The pump is located in the drivers side rear quarter, its the thing shaped like a lump of foam. Inside it is the pump, you will need to remove the unit and take the top off ,change parts and refit. He will supply you instructions anyway, he is a good stand up guy.

Once located you could operate the locking to see if it still generate a vacuum by dropping a pipe off and putting your finger over the outlet on the pipe

Cool, I will go and have a look later on.

I cannot contact Old_skool as I cannot access the member list for some reason. I get a 404 Error. . . .

Any other ways to contact him?

my bad its olds_kool, i have his phone number if that fails, but he more regualrily checks here than his phone, lol

orb, £35 posted for the impeller, fairly easy to swap over but keep the keys safe as they dont like constant use

Thanks buddy, much help!!

Before I commit to buy (skint as we just had baby no 2 before Xmas) I will check the compound at work and see if I have an audi/golf/passat that I can pillage :)

Thanks. You will probably have paypal funds tomorrow :)

Well, I took the pump thingie out today while it was really busy at work.

Yup, the carbon graphite thingies are well ********!

I see how they work now and what they do, and I have to day, what a ****** design from VAG that is.

I have not had a chance to see if we have a smoker in the compound that I can rape of the parts, but I think I will be able to tomorrow. Then I will contact you for a spare Mr Olds_kool

Thanks :)
