Thought id get my progress thread up here from other sites ive put it on.

04/12/09 - New Car

Well the R32 went as I had nothing but problems with it from owning it brand new, VW couldnt fix it & refunded me all my money. Ordered a brand new S3 a while back & got it two weeks ago & loving every minute. As I didnt get to mod the R32 because of all the problems got alot more money to spend on this one which should all be happening shortly to get ready for Modball next year.

Specs

2009 59 Audi S3
Ibis White
Bose Sound System
Bluetooth & Phone Prep
Rear parking sensors
Cd Changer
I-Pod
Flat Bottom Steering Wheel
Tints
Light & Rain Pack

Rest of stuff is standard so wont bother going into detail with that crap. Ive already ordered Evoms Intake & Forge DV which I have fitted the intake & the DV will be fitted next week (The sound of these two together is mint will have to get vids) Then the car is booked in for revo on 21st of December & will push out over 320bhp.

Any way **** pics but here it goes

Got my Evoms Intake & Forge DV Monday so went round to my mates Thurs to get them fitted, Took us 2hours to fit the intake went for summert to eat came back to fit the DV & he dint have the ****** tools to take it off  so goin back round next week.

The sound of the intake is mint, sounds like darth vader under the bonnet, the turbo whistle is alot louder can hear me coming from miles away  then if you come off the gas quick can hear the standard DV chatter through the whole car. It will sound better once the forge dv is on & alot louder n will hold boost better.

Gains are 7-10 bhp & 8-12 ft/lb with just the intake alone, Cant wait for the Revo map on the 21st as it will feel like a totally different car!!

Here is before & after pics, Thinking about a carbon engine cover now tho

Had the car booked in Monday for Revo Stage 1 Map & Forge DV fitting, was there pretty much all the day talking to the guys at Prosport whilst the stuff was getting done. After several hours I went for a test drive & **** me its like a different car , Feels like there is two engines & no extra weight. I had the Evoms intake fitted a while back & the noise it makes alone is nice with the standard DV chattering slightly but with the Forge fitted its stupid  can hear it from far away & people **** thereselves while wondering what the hell it is .

Really pleased with the outcome & am going back to Prosport in two weeks with a few mates in the cars to see what were all putting out, Bit gutted my mate with one of the other S3's has just got stage 2+ which I went down to AMD with him on Weds to get done & its putting out 370bhp  which makes mine feel slow after driving them both

Here a few pics of the install with the Forge DV fitted, Ill get some vids up when the weather is better to give you an idea how loud the DV & turbo is spooling up when giving it some on a private road of course ;)

Next mods is some gold heat tape to wrap the whole intake tube & a Neuspeed carbon fibre engine cover. After them ill keep the car like that for a while get the Speedline Turinis then after Modball Stage 2+ (370bhp ish) :doublethumbs:

Have you thought about H&R springs?

I think Awsome still have them on discount.

Really tightens things up and will compliment the power upgrades a treat!

cheers
Paul

Dont know if I want springs after having them on my previous car, made the ride really hard & crashy. I think I might go for coilovers with rebound adjustable/hight & arb's

Nice mate! Good little read too.... :w00t:

Thanks mate what is the forge throttle body you have fitted to yours? any links?

Also how are the Bilstein coils like on everyday road use?

Thumbs up on the car and mods so far!! Really jealous you guys get the s3 and 3 door we only get to dream about here in the US

I thought exactly the same and never thought I would change the springs.
BUT, after driving an H&R equipped car I was VERY surprised how good they were and the comfort you still had with the flatter cornering and general improved `feel` that comes with it.
Cheap mod too.
Worth a try if you have anyone local with this mod that would oblige?

Cheers
Paul

Go for the coilovers and ONLY COILOVERS, as no springs can even come close to good coilovers. Its just a waste of money as at the end you will be buying them anyway... :) :)

Thanks, do you guys only get the 2.0 t then?, do you also not get the edition 30 golf?

Looks nice mate!

Cheers mate

I will have to have a go in another car with them fitted to see what I think, Does the site have many meets? as when I had the R32, Exige S & Vx220 I used to attend loads of local meets but there doesnt seem many on here

Doesnt seem to be many, I was at a North East mini-meet a few weeks ago but that was through another site.

Where are you based?

That is what I was thinking, with this car I want to get everything right for it first time so I dont have to replace it with a similar part

Ye thats what I thought, which site was that for? I am based near leeds

 Luurve the new S3 in white. Gorgeous.

Great thread too. It's nice to see what mods you're doing and what you think of them as you go. Keep us posted.

Beautiful looking car mate....more pics :applaus:
Can't wait to take delivery of my similar spec on March...

Anyway I wil be looking to mod to stage 1 after 1k on the clock an have been researching this great site.

By the looks of things you have already started where I propbably want to go? I'm after the revo stage 1 performancewith any upgrades to the sound that compliment the performance when moving to stage 2.

Am I right in thinking the 1ststeps are:
Evoms Intake & Forge DV

Then
Revo Stage 1

Then
Turbo back Milltek

Then
Stage 2, etc

Just ot of interest ow much should I reserve for Evoms Intake & Forge DV supplied and fitted?

Cheers.

I think Stage 1 is just a remap but I have the Evoms CAI & Forge DV so prob have Stage 1.5 lol, Stage 2 is Revo Stage 2 map & Miltek TBE, Stage 2+ is Miltek TBE, Fuel Pump & CAI

You dont really need the intake till stage 2+ but it does help on all stages & helps with the noise if you want to get a DV, You dont really need an uprated DV till your running stage 3 from what I have read unless you want it for the sound like I did.

I fitted the evoms with my mate as its pretty easy just takes a few hours & the DV Prosport fitted for £25 but could have fit that too if my mate had the tools as he did his on the the S3 when he borowed the tools off his mate.

Have you got a link to the thread mate could be intrest with a few others & thanks

As above one of the little presents off the gf for christmas am afraid no performance gains with this one. I think it looks good inside with all the rest of the other brush ali stuff & the mirrors on the outside of the car.

Next up some heat tape over the intake pipe & heatsheild to help with temps in the bay which I will be getting in gold as it is the best at reflecting heat as below

Ye we will be going back to Prosport, I will have to let you know mate as he offered us an RR deal if all three of us went so when we call him again I will see what he says about you coming too & let you know.

Looking good!

I'm also an ex vx220 and exige owner (see pics in sig link) and used to go to the meets / drives in and around Leeds. Looks like we've got similar taste in cars :)

My car will probably not be ready now as I need to sort the clutch out so have removed the intake. Thanks anyway. We will have to organise a rolling road day at some point and invite a load of people

Update 29/01 - Revo Select Plus Switch

Well I got the car mapped before christmas but been waiting a while for Prosport to sort out my switch with Revo. I decided to get the select plus switch as I will be going stage 2+ on the car which I will be needed the switch to mess about with the settings like boost, timing, fuel etc. My mate has bought VAGCOM so will be using that too to log the car & to mess around with some settings on the car. Am gona order some gold heatape next for the intake & the heatshield to keep temps down so another update will follow soon.

Here is abit more info from Revo site

The 'select plus' features variable boost, timing and fuel adjustment allowing the user to set the car up to run efficiently with any fuel quality and in varying conditions. The 'select plus' consists of a diagnostic port interface, USB cable and new PC based software. Boost, timing and fuel adjustments can be uploaded directly to the ECU using the software communication mode. The 'select plus' not only features stock and performance modes like the 'select' version, but also includes an additional 3 "user based" modes. These modes allow the user to custom configure their performance settings and upload them to the 'select plus'. Changes to ECU settings can then be made using just the 'select plus'. These saved settings can be changed and re-saved using the software as your mechanical upgrades or environmental conditions permit. Combined with the ability to revert to stock programming, and our unique anti-theft mode, the 'select plus' is unmatched in its ability to provide the highest levels of control and flexibility.

the select plus switch is brillaint, if you set B0 T0 F0 it enables valet mode, good if have your car in for a service etc :)

I have just recieved mine too, when you want to switch the car back to stock do you just switch to position 1 and plug it into the car? im presuming you dont have to change any settings for stock mode?

Thanks

Put your key in the ignition and turn it till the dash lights come on etc wait 5 - 10 secs.
Select program on your select plus switch
Plug the switch into port
You will hear a single bleep when you plug it in
Once the program is loaded you will hear the unit bleeping
Remove select plus switch
Take key out the iginition.

Simple as that :) if you are still insure read the intructions that come with the switch.

Yeah i thought that was the right way, just wondered if you needed to adjust anything for stock mode.

Im trying to fill up with v-power every time but dont have a shell garage nearby, i asked REVO about this and told them that i always use "super unleaded" at whatever petrol station im at. they suggested knocking the timing back to 5 rather than 6, would this affect performance?

the only way you can be sure what settings are best for you is to run data logs using VCDS, this way you can check that the CF's for each cylinder are at an acceptable level and temps are acceptable etc. I run B7 T6 F9 but when outside temps start to rise i will probably drop the timing back to T5. i have yet to log my car with VCDS to see which settings suit me best.

There are some Yorkshire meets coming up on vagoc.co.uk, some members involved are also members here.
The last one I went to cost me a set of H&R springs!

I think i will save the 2 settings on the select switch, my current B6 F9 T6, and with fuel in mind B6 F9 T5, with the current setting i see most people are running boost at 7, where as my tuner says he always uses 6, i could always use that for my third setting i guess

i ran mine at 7 for a while but i think it just makes the power come in really fast then you lose it top end whereas boost 6 seems to be more progressive. you can always try 7 and see what you think but its safer to check all your changes with VCDS to make sure your not losing power by adding to much boost, timing etc

Yes it is but I dont understand it, I thought putting it to stock took my map off but it just hides it surely Audi could see this? Also after switching to stock what do I put it back to have the same settings/map I had on the car ?
