Check this out - RS4 engine'd S3 content.

Taken this a bit the wrong way mate,
Ok so people would rather have a S3 with a big turbo build than a £20k s4 powered s3.
As you have said. each to their own and as been said by others a monster build S3 reataining the all be it stroked BAM block and a single turbo with handeling mods and brakes would still give you change,
Not to have a go but out of intrest, What MPG does this car return on normal drives? Does it understeer like An "normal " S3?

Nah not taken it the wrong way at all, everyone entitled to their opinion.

But im just saying a BT S3 would cost alot of money especially if you didnt build the engine yourself, then there is a question of reliability with such a engine AND your still a 100 bhp shy of what mine has?

My old S3 had BT as previously stated and with ALL the mods it cost £15.5k. Thats including the wheels but add another 2k for recaro pole positions + the cost of buying the car + any other mods you may want to do, DO YOU SEE MY POINT?

Its got a RS4 engine FYI.

With the coilovers it handles very well :)

Right,
So 500bhp can not be made from an 20v turbo audi engine?
The mpg question still stands.
Your old car ( which pat now has)? was MTM tuned yes? Thats an expensive way to go about it IMO.
Also the styling of this car is to be honest to the owners choice not everybodys.
Dont get me wrong, i wish you well with the sale ,
Ive driven R32 big turbo golfs and loved them but... lets face it, they arent daily runners so the reliability will differ car to car.
This conversion although no dout done to a high standard hasnt covered 20k miles in its current car has it?

Faz, Love the car and the hard work thats gone into it. I cant slate it as im a dreamer to this kind of S3 :(

I love it and think that the price is fairly reasonable considering the mileage and mods that have been carried out. The only thing i would change is the colour....(Noggy blue paint would add 50BHP just to let you know ;))

Good luck pal and well done for getting your hands on a VERY unique car.:salute:

Adam.

Did i say it cannot be made?? I think your not reading what Im writing and if you think it has a s4 engine your not even fully aware of the subject you are commenting on, or maybe you cant read the title?

Why not? Ive driven mine as a daily driver never given me any problems and the conversion has covered 30,852 miles to be precise and the shell has 1000 miles additional to this.

Styling is to everyones taste, this will differ obviously.

Thats about the only point you made that I agree with you on.

Regardless what way you go about it, if you dont possess the ability to strip and construct an engine you will have to pay for someone else to do the job, this = COST. :)

MPG, well my love it averages 25-30 on a run 20ish around town.

So very economical in terms of the performance it has, but tbh with you this MPG never bothers me. It may to you though? Maybe you can enlighten me on your MPG?

:moa:

mine? About the same as you quote.
Wether its S4 or RS4 doesnt realy matter to me. I was not aware the car had only 1000 miles on the clock when it was stripped. Again i wasnt aware it was a brand new (or near brand new ) RS4 engine and running gear.
So... why sell such a great all round super car slaying monster?
If it makes the same MPG as a mapped S3 but has such a lump... i wouldnt see a reason to sell it.
Prove me wrong by all means... post up when you sell it for £20k

So your telling me the S3 you currently have, is the only car you had in your life? You never sold a car before?

LOL, just forget it mate! Thank you for your input!

This is a thread about peoples opinions regarding said car... therefor i will post here thanks.
I think its worth 15k
I have sold cars yes. i have no reason to start a willy waving comp. with any memeber on here.
Again... reason for sale?
Too slow? too fast?
Too ... ??

No particular reason mate, just testing the water really.

Hey faz! I love the front bumper, I think it makes the car look even more aggressive as it already is. Like I said earlier you could get cars for the same money but personally, if I didn't need my kidney 2 Moro, would you take that as payment? It's a one off and I'd get it if faz wants my kidney  lol

Good luck with the sale dude!

Gops

haha knew you werent that bothered Faz ;)

Lets not forget chaps, you wouldnt want rid either, every car has its price regardless of what it is (unless severely cherished) ....£20k happens to be Faz's price and he does actually state in the ad ONO (any reasonable offer considered)

If I didn't have to grow up and buy a house soon I'd be on the blower to you by now Faz, I would love to own this motor.

Just out of interest what car will you get next if you manage to sell the beast?

Think i am going to start looking for a rs4 engine and box:)

Yeah you could, I suggest you read the audi driver feature on this car to get an idea of the conversion.

Not got a clue mate, just have to wait and see what happens!

If not then will keep it, put some bigger turbos on it and aim for 600bhp. ;)

I wasnt forgetting brakes and suspension, do you think i am stupid?

I think given the climate and the fact the car is so removed from the std car etc. I cannot see how you can expect to get back anything from the mods you have made, at the end of the day its a low mileage S3, worth say £8 - 9 K. As we all know mods are the owners choice and you cannot expect the next owner to foot the bill for the size of your wallet.

Had you completed this yourself then it would have been fantastic, but to just pay someone to do it, defeats the object somewhat.

I could ( assuming i could afford it) have a jet engine fitted to my crappy A4 and then add 20k to its price and sell it for £21k couldn't i?

Like i said, great looking car, prob fast despite the weight change, but too much money it's still a 9 yr old S3 with some mods.

If you consider the restoration and mods on my MG led me to receiving a single bill for £20,000+ puts this asking price in to perspective a bit!

I'm assuming that parts & labour for the conversion and all the mods will have amassed a huge bill and while the car's never going to be worth the full conversion cost (+ donor car) I reckon £20K is a fair initial asking price and probably a lot cheaper than building the same car again from scratch!

do you have a link for the feature on it.

It did use to be on the net but cant seem to find it anymore mate? I have the magazine?

Yeah my mate had his E30 M3 restored and it was a £20k+ bill too ;)

Cool, you could do whatever you want to with it, its YOUR car in the end of the day.

;)

As a matter of interest Faz, has the car ever been tracked or timed in a 1/4 miles?

Wether it was by yourself or not doesn't matter, I'm curious as to wether the car has been used to it's full potential or just built as a 'show you what I can do' exercise? You say you have blown away supercars or whatever you have come accross, so I would presume it's very quick in a straight line, but does the car handle good out on the race track lets say?

I think it's fair to say that whilst it looks like an 8L S3, underneath it all, nothing is original, it's almost like a kitcar running RS4 running gear with an S3 shell on top, so us S3 owners can't really comment on this car realistically.

It's running full RS4 transmission, so no Haldex to be seen, and I assure you it has a lot of customised bits to make it work, which is why it's a unique car.

Spot on JoJo you are on the ball!

I would like to see it go. reckon that car is a bike eater

It is a bike eater ;)

I can gurantee that mate!

Anyway, not to be a kill joy, I will need to look at removing the link to the PH ad as this thread could be seen as advertising. I don't want to close it as it has raised some useful disscussion.

Lovely car mate. If i had the money, as in ate 20k for breakfast id whip it up straight away.

But i couldnt see an average person buying it over an rs4 etc.

But it aint an average car. If i win the lotto ill buy it off you !

I think its a great car. I'd stick a standard front bumper back on it but I love the car, its insane.

Its worth whatever someone will pay for it and going on the replies to this thread there are plenty of people who would pay what Faz wants for it.

Some people would spend £20K on a Westfield, I wouldnt but I wouldnt have a paddy when someone wanted to if thats what they like.

:)

No mate, I myself have never tracked ANY of my cars and I have had a fair few of them!

Handling is very good for what it is, this is me comparing it to my old S3 and that had ALL handling upgrades and it handles very well.

It handles the power VERY well to the surprise of many people who have been passenger.

It has to be seen to be appreciated!

Yes there are plenty of people who say they WOULD pay the 20k BUT and its quite a biggy, NOBODY has offered a straight 20k for it... thats because.......
People love the car... because its mad. mental, about on the limit of what can be done with an 8l S3.
But in the same way , a freind of mine has built a honda civic with a GT40 turbo and its mad, Cost him quite a bit and we all love it.... would i spend the money and actualy own it? Not a chance in hell.
If somebody mentioned R....S....and 4 in a conversation im thinking the whole package, not how good it would feel to own an S3 with the engine in.

As ive said FAZ, good luck with the sale,

If I had some cash I'd chuck him an offer for sure, it would be a reasonable one too ;)

Yes you can just buy an RS4 instead but I think part of the attraction with this car is that its so different and goes to show what can be done with a lot of skill and effort. :)

Different folks, different strokes etc.

nobody can price this car.... end of, there are no valuations and no other car to gauge against...its on its own...end of valuation discussion, one persons opinion and all that means nothing.....

Exactly!

As I have always said though everyone entitled to their own opinion!

Paul: you and me have different views on things, thats life ;)

But thanks for your input! Its appreciated.

Would a standard front bumper fit? or is the bumper thats on now there as much out of need as it is style? The rear... would fitting a stock looking rear section to the exhaust be a real head ache?
I would like the fun of it as a sleeper. You know, evo boy pulls up and gives that "awwwwww bless" look they always give unless you have a huge rear wing and a 5 inch rear tailpipe.

I think it's a great car and a great conversion without a doubt. I'm sure Faz would get 20k for it when the right person comes along. For average joe it doesn't make sense but if I was in a position where I could afford to keep and run it aswell as having another car to run around in I would definately snap it up...

This would be a weekend car for me, not an every day car because it is special...

And for this reason all I could do is admire it,

Good luck with the sale.

Faz mate, you know its an awesome car, I know its one hell of a bit of kit, if I had the money spare Id have it in an instant, piece of history there and the work that went into it was incredible, all the work just to get the Quattro system working properly is breathtaking. Having read thru some of the bits on here I just found myself shaking my head thinking "you just dont understand" to what some people have said.

On a forum like this (or any other as I know people have been posting this up all over the place) you will get people asking you stupid questions, playing it down, "Oh I could build a car with 3/4 of that power for half the price" and so on BUT that car will sell for/close to the £20k and it has done before. I cant understand the logic in people thinking thats alot, yeah its technically a 10year old car but it was rebuilt from the ground up in 2005 (I think thats when, cant remember) and the spec is pretty impressive and there is still alot of potential for making it your own, bigger turbos, more power etc.

People always wonder why your selling but youve had more cars since Ive known you than Ive had teenage girlfriends and we both got rid for the same reason, we had our fun and wanted to let others enjoy them ;)

Best of luck with the sale mate, someones gonna get one hell of a car for good money without all the agrivation and ball ache of doing the build themselves.

People always wonder why your selling but you've had more cars since Ive known you than I've had teenage girlfriends
Am sure Faz has had more than two cars Ryan

Its a cracking car and good luck with the sale...

...But i think £20k is too much as you can buy a mint real RS4 for that money. In fact, only a little more on top and you can get the V8 RS4!
I too am not a fan of the front bumper. Would much rather it had the std one on. Bet its fun to drive though!! What can you replace that with i wonder?
