Was out for lunch today with my car parked a few places down from the restaurant and came back to find my s3 mirrors gone (Broad daylight and a busy little area) I nearly cried :crying:

Is it worth laying low and waiting for them to be on ebay?!..ahh if only i was stuck in a room with the fella who took my wingmirrors!:slapped:

Insurance is probably not going to help due to a £1000 excess that i have!

Anyone have any idea where you can purchase them from?

2009 59 plate S3 Ibis White 3 Door (I suppose im asking for it)

even if they do appear on the bay, you would have to prove they were from your car, which would be very tricky.

Sorry to hear that bud, it's happened to many of us, just a matter of time with these mirrors, all i can say is when you get your new set, get a colour coded set too.
Someone needs to invent a security thing for these mirrors!

Its amazing that we can't even park are ****** car in fear of little tramps doing stuff to it out of jealousy!

this is happening pretty much once a week on here!

i am really worried about my S3 mirrors when i am parked in public. i am actually looking out for some standard ones to put on as i am so worried about them!

I feel your pain mate, mine went a couple of months back. Similar situation in that it wasn't worth claiming on my insurance so ended up paying for a new set myself. In retrospect I wish I'd gone for body coloured ones given the number which seem to be going missing, it's seems inevitable they'll disappear again which is kind of depressing as well as stupidly expensive. Might even be worth picking up a set of pre-facelift standard ones cheap, not great having to do this on a new car but it might save some worrying?

Happened to my my wife's silver A3 , ****** me off when i hear that people are still nicking them ,i feel ya pain , especially as they are about £1000 + just for the parts.
We ended up claiming on the insurance with a £500 excess ( no claims bonus protected )
Still cost us £500 , looks like either way it's going to cost you a grand.
F"uking Tw£$Ts

What area do you guys live in?! Is it a particular type of wing mirror the thiefs are after? or is it just any old A3 mirror their after?

its the silver S3 / s-series Audi ones. They only come on the s-series.

I had someone wreck my wheels with a screw driver trying to get the centre caps off.........I caught them at it.
I was walking down the ally back to the car park and there was a kid at the end who ran off when he saw me coming, obviously the look out. got back to the car and spotted the wheel damage and a group of 4-5 kids, all under 10 years watching me from 6ft away......What can you do ?? You cant prove anything and lay a finger on them and your nicked.
sounds a cliché but this is why i dont run a new car. the thought of some ****** nicking my mirrors would cause me more upset than its worth.

Dont you just hate it! I had kids trying to steal my metal dust caps. They went on with 12mm spanner & the kids were trying to remove them with a pair of pliers, scored the surroundings of the wheels. My mate saw them & showed me the house. At least I got to threaten the fat useless father LOL

I actually live in a nice area and the car was in an even nicer place (million pound houses everywhere you look) but theres the M40,M4 and M25 within minutes(criminal gateway) Shows that parking in the middle of a rough estate/upperclass town doesn't make a difference! Little b#st#rds are crawling everywhere!:banghead:

Yeh i saw the wing mirrors you were on about mate. £160 seems a good deal. You are right though about the stolen nav systems etc.
If anyone notices a set of 2009 S3 mirrors go up on ebay in the next couple weeks and in the north london area let me know pleease!
:gun2:(there maybe war if i find who's responsible):gun2:

****** **** take! I've been considering these for a long while now, but wouldn't as they're so easily stolen & I'd buy off eBay, which would be supporting the theft of these!

The problem is that we all watch the bay for these mirrors. I missed a set last week for £160.

We want FBMFSW and RNSE cheap from Lithuania and Hungry and we buy them knowing they are knicked. We kid ourselves we dont know for sure but the guy selling me a RNSE had loads for any model and any year. We may be the victims but we are also the market.

Very true. People do kid themselves that what they're buying isn't nicked.

My mate (going back a few years) had his 205GTi wheels pinched. He ended up buying the 205GTi 1.9 hweels from a guy in a pub car park.

Unless people choose not to go down these paths it will only continue.

no no no no.....Ibis BE's should have their wing mirrors painted black, you know it makes sense, it stops them looking so big and elephant shaped too!;)

Very few people pay for quality and they want these parts cheap...hence the crooks and ebay trieving !

Cheers for everyones input, much appreciated! Think im going to pop down to audi today and get either a white or black pair WITH

Thankfully they're really easy to fit, so save yourself the 300 quid fitting Audi will quote you by perforing an hour's worth of DIY.

Thats so strange i saw a lovely Ibis white S3 drive past us yesterday, and i looked over and thought good luck keeping those shiney mirrors. I am sorry if i jinxed you.

All Suzuki Bikes come with alphadot security markings a tiny dot on the most likely parts to be stolen means the police can trace the owners if they find someone selling stolen parts. I know it wont stop them being stolen but it may help identify your parts on ebay.

Was going to suggest something similar, like engraving the reg onto an unseen area of the wing mirror or using the invisible marker ink to mark the reg then at least you have something to go on.

They are little Tw**ts and there is very little we can do to stop them being little Tw**ts...:angrymod:

I've got some spare Alphadot fluid from my bike! Seems like a good idea to use on my mirrors...

I can guarantee they are 100% legit and will be in A1 condition

The robbing bast**d is selling buckets for £3500 also! Shocking. Probably stolen too... ;)

I'm new to this place and i'd just like to add that mine have also been stolen on Christmas Eve.

A bloke knocked on our door at the end of October and asked which of our cars was for sale. I have an 07 Silver S3 and a ****** 02 Vectra for work. The bloke had an Irish accent and a neighbour said he was eyeing up the Audi. We told the police about it.

Anyway my wife was about to go out on Christmas Eve when she noticed the crome wing mirror cases were gone and that the glass was gone on both sides. We later found one mirror cracked through the middle and a neighbour found a crome case when walking his dog. The crome case was knackered, brackets snapped etc and would be no good to anyone.

The police came but the Stockton-On-tees force didn't have a record of this happening before.

Reading the threads on here it seems that I should be worried for my safety and get ready for a break in.

It pays to be very careful but also don't let the thieving scum bags win, take the relevant security measures and to protect yourself and the family leave the keys where they can be found by the scum if the worst ever happened. I will also invest in a tracker this time around, not because I want the car back but to stop the b@stards getting away with it.

The comments about e-bay and our fueling the current crime wave do unfortunately ring true, we are all on the look out for bargains but things are cheap for a reason, I for one will be double checking the provenance of all future items I intend to buy, I'd rather pay a little more than line the pockets of the scum bags, I think we should all think before we buy, we cant offer sympathy one minute then bag a bargain the next.

I ordered some new heated glass for the mirrors and some crome cases off ebay, they aren't Audi spares but some other manufacturers. I'll see what they look like on.
I'm looking to be an owner of an A5 for the summer so i'll see what happens in the mean time.

Managed to fit some of these

Look ok but not the real deal. The glass doesn't seem to fit too well either. Anyway they should do me for a few months until I get a new contract and can waltz into the Audi garage or Audi specialist and order proper ones up. Probably get body colured paint instead of polished crome cases next time. Sick as a pig still. Police haven't managed a positive finger print yet from one of the recovered cases which had been snapped.

good call as i have some spare in the garage from the bike aswell

Might speak to you on this when you're back Si. Just had my mirror vandalism fixed, nae chuffed. Looks like more and more getting knicked, so if some way to track them if they do go, then it get's my vote.
