Epspecially looking to find out if I can make the flappy paddles work for the gear change. I have VAGCOM (VCDS), by the way.

I'm sure that I saw a guide for this or something similar before, but can't seem to find it now (maybe im just having a bad google day).

BUMP.......

Still looking for the answers here. The rest of the RS6 interior is fitted (well, door cards & seats - can't be bothered just now with headlining etc) but I was holding off doing the wheel as I want to do it all in one go, not get it off , then go to Audi for spare parts etc.

Somebody must have done this already?!?!?!?!!??!

I vaguely remember hearing that it was supposed to be easier with 2002+ cars due to the wiring or some such....... :sos:

Ok, with no help forthcoming this is going to have to wait until after the birth of my 2nd son.

Ok, birth out of the way but still not happy to start this without somewhere to start from as this is the main family car. Surely someone has doen this before? Or at least to an A6 C5 (same difference)?

What year and model is your car?

If you have a C5 Chassis and you are wanting to fit a C6 chassis steering wheel, then you will have problems with your airbag not deploying if you have an accident.

Thanks for the reply :)

No, it's a straight C5 (RS6 2003?) to C5 (Allroad 2002) swap. I'm just wary because it involves the airbag AND because I have no instructions I don't want to get to a point where I have un-installed the old one but can't put it back if the RS6 won't work.

If it's anything like the seats, battery off, remove, replace, battery on & hey presto - job done! Then I'll be very happy, but without any kind of guidance I'm loathe to start especially as I'd like the Tip controls to work and no point installing myself if i'm going to have to pay someone else to sort the Tip out!

Will have a look at that thread, but I prefer instructions with fotos (of my model), etc.

check with HazzyDayz (VWcruise.com) they are VAG specialists (I think they're ex-Audi electricians) and can retro-fit all sorts e.g. they put an R8 wheel into my A4-B6 and wired the B6's single-stage airbag trigger into the larger high-impact airbag in the steering wheel.

They also wired up all the RNS-E voice controls into the steering and Bluetooth kit, so it all functions 100%!

Pretty sure they can enable the gear-paddles too...

What's extra on the RS6 steering wheel compared to the Allroad ?

I've done a std SE steering wheel to an Sline MFSW on my previous A4 (ok different to A6 but much the same in terms of tasks to do)

Depending on what extra the RS6 wheel has... depends on what parts you may/may not need.

Thanks for the reply. RS6 has standard paddle shifters for the Tiptronic on the wheel (no other additional controls). The Allroad/A6 had that as an option only with the MFSW so not sure if a different control module is required and, at the moment, am GUESSING that the airbag will swap over between SW's but need to confirm that.

Any ideas?

Any Audi tech's out there care to enlighten us?

Thanks lostbok. Have dropped them an email for advice and/or a quote.

Would like to do the same, but not sure if solution has been found. In my case:
RS6 steering wheel (yet to be obtained, but for example 8B0 419 091 CJ mit Airbag 8E0 880 201 S from a March 2003 RS6) into 2001 Allroad Tiptronic (with steering wheel shift buttons).
