Nope, no baby or any pregnancy news here, but I finally got my first bike, my very own precious! Just got her back to accompany the S3, I'd say they will make a fine pair of garage mates.


Will get some good pics soon, the salesguy waited for me to get off work and delivered the bike to my house. It wasnt until 7ish before he left. Now that's good service, the local audi dealer have much to learn on this department.

Seriously though, nice bike, I'm very interested! Looking to start the whole motorbicycling thing in the new year when the temperature gets its **** back above freezing

I'd love a bike but the thought of going fast on 2 wheels terrifies me 150 mph in a decent car, no probs. 100 on a motor bicycle? I'm already scared...I like sporty bikes though and fancy something small and nippy to start off with. Ninja 250 is on the list, as is yours! I like the idea of the RS125 because it's a 2-stroke, and I love the smell (plus I'm quite matey in my local Aprilia/Piaggio shop so...)

Any reports / experiences / jumps for joy, I'm reading!

Depending on your size, I'd say go for something a bit bigger as a first bike - an RS125 / etc isn't very big! 2 strokes also need to be ridden quite hard to get much out of them. Also Italian means £££ if anything breaks or goes wrong.

I went for a Ducati Monster 750 as my first bike - it sounded awesome but wasn't very quick and I got bored pretty quickly - then went to a GSXR750 via a Kawasaki Z750S - made money on both the first 2 bikes, but wonder whether I should have just bought the Gixxer to start with - I didn't want a full on sports bike as my first bike, but I find it more comfortable to ride than I did the other 2. And it's got plenty of power when I need it, but doesn't need to be used when I don't want to.

Strangely enough, I think you'll find the opposite - 100mph on a sportsbike feels like 30mph in a car! It gets up to speed so quickly, and will break so much quicker than a car, you can do some silly speeds without trying :busted_cop:

paddy: That's very nice, it's the vyrus isnt it? How do you even pronounce it properly? On another note, one day, one fine day, I'll have a bimota. Totally different league compared to the other more "common" italians imho.

HBD: Do it, but as pete said, find one that suits your size/weight. I'm only planning to be a weekend rider, and being asian, I'm quite petite (i think). The 2 stroke is definitely a main plus point, especially with all the pretentious green/eco hippie movement going around. No reports yet, but so far, I'm not even sure how to finish the 1000km break-in period without going over 5krpm. Rode it to town and to work today, and I was holding up traffic so bad it's not even funny, especially when I'm fully geared up and on a "sporty" looking bike. Cant wait till it's over when I can give it the full beans.

I'm 6 foot and 68 kilos (under 11 stone) so long, and skinny. I've tried an RS125 in the shop for size and it feels great, small and light and chuckable. I don't know if I look ridiculous on it though...like an anorexic bear on a circus tricycle?

The downsides to a 'priller would be the upside to the small Ninja - the Japanese bike is a good grand cheaper and probably won't need anything apart from petrol. Problem is it won't stink like the RS or make that cool noise

A bigger bike is also an option guys, but I'm an adrenaline freak who is scared to die A Triumph Speed Triple makes my heart beat faster just looking at it but the thought of ending my days as 100 yards of human raspberry jam and a helmet stuck in a tree doesn't really appeal

It depends what you like - personally I can't stand the smell of a 2 stroke - it reminds me of chavs hanging around on scooters!

You can take a corner too quickly on a 125 or a 1000 - there's no reason to think you're more likely to have an off on a Speed Triple than a RS125 - in fact as it's a more relaxed bike, in a lot of ways it might be a bit calmer!

That does of course make plenty of sense - it's just the rider I'm concerned about

If you're going to ride like a gimp, you'll hurt yourself on whatever bike you buy.

If you ride within your confidence levels, and keep your eyes out for motorists trying to kill you, then you should be fine.

Good advice m8, cheers I drive like everybody's trying to kill me anyway, so got that covered for biking triple times!

Get yourself a Bandit of something similar. safer than aprillia because you will not want to thrash it for the noise and big bikes are more stable. I always say the first thing to learn on a bike is how to do an emergency stop, any fool can ride fast...thats the easy bit. takes practise and confidence to stand on the brakes and a bigger bike has more weight, tyre contact and stability than a little light weight.
As Pete says, falling off is optional...I have been riding on the road and track for 35 years and never once had an off on the road above 10mph ( dont ask)

I'm all for a sensible bike like a Bandit, I've just got to see one I like the look of, and feels good between my legs (oo-er).

I've took the p**s out of Fate enough times in my life - I'm going to be very careful!

Driving the wife's scooter has given me a taste for some 2-wheeled fun, at the moment it's not about being fast, but I see what you mean about having a small bike and caning it...I probably would after a bit (but not enough) experience! And then fall off...

The guys that look like Power Rangers and go 180 mph on Fireblades and Gixxers are very cool, but I'm not one of them!!!

I had a bike and loved it for every minute until a foreign lorry driver pulled into my path, which resulted in me loosing my leg below the knee :/ (just to clarify this wasnt my fault )

However dont let this put you off coz it was just just bad luck really, i cant wait to get the movement back to full in my knee then i can get another

I've seen some lovely road rash in my time - A mate of mine's leg was literally hanging off after someone stopped his R6 with a Megane Scenic

If I don't get the full Red Ranger suit I'm deffo into armoured jeans/jacket/gloves/boots. And a full face helmet too, I don't fancy any sort of faceplant wearing my open-face scooter hat

I passed my bike test recently and bought myself a Honda CBR600, made a little video of it as well because im sad like that (note that I made the video before I had passed my full test so the bike was still restricted to 33 bhp)
