Finally made it back, and my car made a disappointing 231bhp, running lean at the top end(5k+) apparently. First time I've had my car produce under 250bhp on a set of rollers. Car feels fine to drive though, so not too sure what to make of the figure, but it seems other Stage1 S3's was making similar....

Dyno Dynamic rollers are known to be heart breakers (I have first hand experience after today!!) but they are also known to be accurate (real power figures) and consistant. In 'shootout' mode it is said that you can go to any set Dyno Dynamics dyno and acheive repeatable results.

Like to extend a big thank you to everyone that turned up today, sorry it was a bit random getting everyone on the rollers but I think it all worked out in the end...

FWIW, most if not all Stage 1 mapped S3's produced more or less the same power so it wasn't that anyone car was down on power, just that other rollers are 'happier rollers' than others...

Out of interest what did the silver gti manage on the rollers?? Is it a polo or a golf?

Do we have a list of power figures then??
And maybe what spec people had to get them??
I would be very happy to attend one in the new year...

I am sure Sandip has the full list, but i can start off if you like and participants cut n paste etc.

Audi A4 TQS(180BHP model) Standard tune 175.9 BHP @ 0.9 Bar of boost
VW Polo GTi Badger 5 Big turbo conversion 389.0 BHP @ 1.8 bar of boost

Gutted I couldnt get to this in the end. Had to spend my day looking after the 23 Cov City fans that turned up to watch them 'play' football today at the Ricoh instead...grrrr.

Dyno Dynamics rollers aka the heartbreaker

8L S3 (AMK) - Custom Code Stage 1 - 219.1 bhp/240lb.ft (Running very lean so down on power)

MrsB lupo 1.8t, on stage 1 revo, high boost 9, timing 7 as a base run before i fit the JBS hi-flow manifold and see what it does after.

211bhp from its aum stock golf engined k03s
max actual boost 1.2bar max airflow logged of 178g/s

does that mean they are realistic Bill or massively under

i believe these rollers make std cars achieve std numbers, and the numbers seen yesterday are what you see on other dyno dynamics rollers when in shoot out mode.

they are relative to the other cars on the day.... which in the main was pretty consistent in 2wd mode and 4wd mode and between cars.. those cars which under read also looked like there were boost and fueling issues which would account for differences.

i like DD rollers, as if you get a number on them, you will unlikely get a lower number on other makes.. they are not over exaggerating numbers on them thats for sure.

DD rollers or Mainline Dyno rollers are the ones i am saving up for currently.. they tell it how it is, and are not "sales" dyno's in respect of power claims vs reality. If yuou make good power on DD you have good power

sorry for poor camera pics as its on a phone

this shows how lean my car is running, badger said its running dangerously leanso needs sorting big time
Photo145.jpg

running stock power with nearly 320lbft of torque, suppose i should get more power when fuelling is sorted
Photo146.jpg

just out of curiosity, has anyone had their fuel running lean into the 14 AFR when it should be steady 12AFR? has anyone curred that problem which they had and how?

im now driving he car under 70mph and not going above 2500rpm:mad: atleast it will save me a fortune in petrol lol

My baseline figures, ready for when i start the hybrid install.

Not bad, i have only lost 4 bhp in 10 years and 118k miles

AFR seems ok and the boost is on spec.

I e way it would be very happy to attend one in the new year...

A run on a dyno dynamics rr will be a good relative comparison with others for sure..
not that it will likely give expected numbers compared to other dynos the way DD rollers read. (comparitive to other DD rollers in shoot out mode, but not to other makes of dyno)

If you get good figures on DD you can be pretty confident of getting higher figures elsewhere.

Be interesting to see how a k04 hybrid performs in these conditions, logged as most of these were etc. some good info to be had

a big old 153.3 hp from me,i was happy considering it is standard bar fmic and pannel filter. so i anyone is wandering a pannel filter can give you 3hp ha. Got my vag com working to day and logged the mass flow giving me 128.8 divided that by 0.8 to give me 160hp.

cheer mark

I am hoping that the hybrid, injectors, exhaust log,3 in DP etc make me around 100BHP. Will be happy then. Seeing as it's not too far I would be able to re visit for a comparative figure afterwards.

How come the stage 1 guys are all getting very low results

Read the previous posts mate... DD rollers are deemed to be more accurate and consistant in shootout mode.... If you notice, all the stage 1 guys are getting more or less the same..

If you want 'claimed' figures then find a 'happy dyno' to run on as DD rollers will break your heart :)

If you look at Mark's results, he got 175bhp on an otherwise std car, 5bhp down on manufacturers 'claimed' bhp on a car with miles on it... what do you think that says about the results of the stage one S3's... even S4twiggy's S4 produced 266bhp which is also std....
