Questions about HID kits and 09 RNSe

Yo,

Ive seen alot of HID kits, but they all produce a flat blue light. Bright, but i'm looking for a HID kit that produces a crisp, white/blue Xenon much like the real Audi's.

Can anyone recommend any?

Also, are any ipod interface cables compatible with rnse? Or will i need OEM ipod cables for full functionality with the rnse screen?

HIDS4U.co.uk are excellent . Go for the 'ultimate' kit (£200) and select either 5000k (white) or 6000K (blue/white). I've seen an install using the 6000K and it is very good indeed. You'll probably want to change your side lights too and they offer pure white LEDS to replace those. Again the results are superb.

Have a search around for wiper motor failures associated with fitting HID kits. It might just put you off the idea. Not to mention the legal aspects.

Nothing's happened other than getting close to the end of its lease, when I say close, 5-6 months, but I just want the hassle out of the way now rather than at the last minute.

Eyes are great thanks, I still use the drops, one drop in each eye when I wake up but that's more me being on the safe side than actually needing them, no problems and perfect vision. Definitely money well spent!

The next time you are driving along an a road and some tw@t coming the other way blinds you with their Ebay 'speshul' lights, you will know why - mainly down to the lack of self-levelling as found in standard OE systems. Big thumbs down.

As you will see, they regard them as illegal unless the units are OEM and headlamps washers and auto levelling are also installed. I was also given to understand, when I emailed the DfT some while ago, that at some time in the not too distant future a check will be included for these elements in the MOT.

I looked at that site and they have a HID kit for £97.. all seems a bit dubious.. can just picture coming back to your car and seeing one burnt out front end.. If Xennon's really cost £97 i'm sure speccing them up wouldn't still cost the best part of a grand at the dealers.. I'd just get some of the better branded bulbs that are around if the colour bothers you that much..

As above they are illegal if they aren't fitted i.a.w. the regulations including a suitable headlight "E" marked for HIDs(which normal halogen reflectors wont be). The colour from OEM HIDS has a blue tinge because of the projector lens. The standard OEM colour temp is 4300k but some people think by fitting 5k or 6k HIDS which have a more blueish/purple light it looks the same, it doesnt.
