N249 Bypass/Removal

As mentioned further up, just extend the wiring and stash it out of sight if you really want to remove the covers and brackets etc... You will prob have to do the same sorta thing to hide the resistor anyway and this way you know the ECU won't complain.

If there is any info on this at all I would have thought cupra net would have it... the ibiza boys are always messing about with stuff..

Yeah, there is to be fair.... Thats where I first saw the guide to bodging a resistor inline.
 
i was always under the impression the vac chamber was there to maintain some boost ensuring a smoother drive and smoother gear changes because it helped hold the revs better....ie less drop off on revs on slower gear changes means potentially more jerkyness...... thoughts?
 
Vac chamber is there to hold a small amount of boost so that the ecu can use that boost to open the dv if it needed to. The bypass just sets up the car how most old turbo cars are where the dv only opens when the tb closes.

It's just another thing that can go wrong and another set of pipes to split :laugh:
 
think i am gonna have to be doing this at the weekend, found some split pipes in the vacuum circuit. the list grows! but so does my knowledge :eyebrows:
 
I done mine yestday. No noticable change but it makes sense to do it. Gives the ecu less chance to suddenly drop the power when you dont want it to.
 
I'm up for any mod that involves simplifying the boost circuit. I used to own a Renault 5 gt turbo back in the day and the RTOC boys used to remove metres of boost hose to improve the circuit. Happy days
 
gez.... though the idea was the opposite.... ie as westle said.... the vacuum tank preserves some boost, presumebly to reduce lag

That said, the vac hoses from the chamber only connect to the vac nipple on the DV.

The air in the vac chamber never even gets close to the air going into the tip, so how would it reduce lag?

The only reason the air is there is to enable the ECU to open the DV if it sees the need to. I don't. So the ECU can get f**ked. :)
 
hey im am being sold this now :)

so why does the ECU need to be able to control the DV...... im of the mindset that its there for a reason and just need to set this right in my own mind
 
For two reasons I can think of.

Firstly to enable boost stabilisation, if it sees more boost from the MAP sensor, then it will dump it out of the DV instead of enabling limp mode... I won't miss this because in my mind, if you have more boost than requested, there is something wrong anyway, so there will be other symptoms. I'd rather it hit limp mode as then I'd know about the problem.

Secondly, it aids the traction control. It allows the ECU to stop you hammering it whilst experiencing excessive lateral G. F**k that. I will hammer it if I want to!
 
i by passed the n249 valve today as when i put foot down cumming off roundabouts it sumtimes dumps the boost sumat 2 do with the traction control i think now it holds boost fine audi wanted £300 2 sort the problem so thanks for the info on ere guys worked wonders
