Evening All!

Just a quick question, A chap that works at my local VW happened to be walking past when I had the bonnet up the other day...
And in passing he said "taking all the engine bay plastics off already!?! I wouldn't recommend that!" to which i didn't click and we started talking about something else..

So, my question is... Am i missing something??? As i don't know if he was being serious or not...

Looks like everything is there to me....

Ideas?

Cheers!
Chris

mine looks exactly the same but I've seen some pics with more plastic covers somewhere in other threads

You need the brake fluid cover which fits that whole gap across the back and the battery cover slots into that.

I think the covers really finish off the engine bay, pity Audi dont fit as standard on the older models. If you search on here here there is a post that gives you the part numbers.

The trim to cover the rear of the engine bay is as cheep as chip's, fitting it is very easy..

Mines an early model late 2001 and it has the battery cover and so do the other 3 i work on
was this an option then ?
i know the B7s are often missin them or just not fitted .

Audi stopped fitting them as standard around 05/06 to save on money!

the pic above is also missing the cover over the pipes just above the airbox, which is only normally fitted to the V6.
also the RS4 cover over the washer bottle on the right hand side.
see pjmspeedy for part numbers and prices, thats who i got all mine from.
really tidies the engine bay up with them all on.

The battery cover is crap tbh, so easily breaks given the fitment design tabs that you have to slide into position to lock in place, had 2 go on my S4, poxy things.

Mine is a 2004 04, maybe they were an option that wasnt ticked, but then this was a pre reg car from Audi.

If the pipe covers are normally fitted to the V6's then thats why i havent got them, as mine is a 1.9, but if there is a cover that will fit it would finish it off even more.

Also missing a cover over the powersteering bottle. Mine has one anyway?

Seems a bit random which ones came with and which came without. I would appear from previous threads that some of the earlier ones had the long battery cover one etc but not the later ones. I've added the lot as have as have a few of the others on here. They're not expensive fromt he dealer, but pjmspeedy may be able to get them for you at a better price.

So the one covering the washer bottle is an RS4 cover, but whats the part number for the one on the left. Is there anything that it clips on to.

Steve, I'll get you the part number mate. It doesn't clip onto anything but does have a loop you can attach a cable tie to, but to be honest it doesn't really move about anyway.

Sweet, that will be added to the new year shopping list, among other things....
why do cars always require expensive things at the same time.

Mine seems to have all the covers too, '02 plate a4 avant. I wonder if some of them go missing at garages etc?

When ordering from Audi though, is it a simple case of just ringing up with a part number, and then going to collect it? (sorry if that seems dumb, but never ordered anything from a dealer before, haha)

Pretty much yes, depending on your dealer they may want payment in advance, and sometime the parts dept. are less than helpful - but that entirely dealer dependent!

Cool, thanks quattrojames! I will give them a ring sometime this week.

Ask pjmspeedy, he can provide OEM parts at a cheaper price.
