Right i stripped down my engine today after finding the big ends have gone and has done some damage to the crank.

I have found scores in the number 2 bore but the pistons are ok? looks like someone has bodged it to get it running to sell fast and i was the sucker that got it but anyway back to the problem in hand.

Right what are my options?

I was thinking of rebuilding the engine with a 95.5mm stroke TDI crank (2067cc) or 92.8mm 2.0 FSI crank (2008cc)? and Forged pistons and rods but whats the max the early apy engine can be bored out to?

What else is needed for this conversion?

What head gasket?

Anymore infor on this conversion will help

I saw a very expensive 2l conversion bottom end, yesterday, that looked suspiciously like a 2.0TFSI bottom end out of a Mk5 GTI, albeit with a machined spacer about 4mil thick between the bottom of the block and the 18T sump.
Head dowels were tapped through, to enable head to fit, but apart from that, it all "looked" stock!
Even the crank oil seal carrier was a stock 18T one as far as I could tell from the part number.

Is the road to a 2 litre as simple as this...? Surely not.....!! ! !??

I have some piston option now

82.5mm bore x 95.5mm stroke = 2042cc
83mm bore x 95.5mm stroke = 2067cc
83.5mm bore x 95.5mm stroke = 2092cc

What head gaskets will be needed with the above bores?

Came across a TT bored to 2.1. Was apparently pushing out 480bhp. Certainly left me standing anyway!

Could you not get a stroker kit, Ive seen one from america costing i think around $1500, but was a 2L kit though.
