Hi guys, i ordered my s3 from dealer 10 weeks ago and was given a build week of 47. I have just got off phone to dealer and they have told me the car is now built and waiting for shipment. Just wondering how long other people have generally had to wait for their cars to arrive AFTER being told the car has been built as the wait is now killing me!! :jump:

Usually no more than 3 weeks between being built and arriving at the dealers. Mine was only 2 weeks but it depends on the timing of the ships leaving Bremerhaven. Completed cars usually leave Ingolstadt by train at the end of the day they are built for transfer to Bremerhaven.

Our car was built in week 44 and arrived at the garage in Scotland 10 days ago.
Hope this helps!

Your dealers system should be able to tell him when it arrives at Bremerhaven, is loaded on the ship, when the ship leaves, when it arrives in the UK and of course when it arrives with them.

I bet you're as excited as a kid for christmas!
I would be anyway

Hey tku

I was meant to pick my car up this saturday but the dealer rang me today and said it missed the boat and should be here by monday night? they are having to send transport down to the docks on monday morning to bring it up so hopefully it will be valeted in time for late afternoon, bit gutted - had the weekend free but its only 2 days i guess.

Anyway they rang me about 2 weeks ago to confirm it had been built so you should be looking at 2-3 weeks max for delivery mate, bet you cant wait it will be here before xmas!!!! :beerchug:

Also he mentioned its at bremerhaven now and that its been put on priority for me due to the slight mix up, think its on the boat on sat, it might be worth asking for priority, nothing to lose

Thanks guys! Will wait for call tomorrow from dealer and will be asking them exactly where my car is. :)

Johnny B - Sorry to hear about mix up but at least its only til monday! :) We ordered both our cars roughly same time so hopefully mine won't be lagging too far behind yours!

I'm just happy its here before christmas and I get to beat the VAT increase! woohoo!

Got my reg today though, i just hope it doesnt arrive too late on mon then its tues, its when its days away that it kills you more lol - i didnt mind a month ago, anyway like you say at least its before the VAT increase, and i never thought i would say this but the audi salesman that i ordered it from has been top notch

Hope you didn't get a plate that ends with KFC lol ;)

Or TIT, BUM, COK etc.... no its actually a good one, the dealer said he would stay late on monday if needed - with the car needing checked and valeted etc, so hopefully im gonna have to try find excuses to go somewhere on monday night.

Will try get pics next week at some point

Yes do that! What ever happened to the good old old days when you used to be able to choose your registration from a selected list?

Dunno mate, ive been lucky though, i had STD in the past, that was interesting, a week from now your gonna be bursting dude

I am bursting already! Got a phone call from dealer today and nothing has changed "car is still at port awaiting shipment, can take upto 15days" damn. :) Just hope there are no horror stories to tell when she does arrive.

Lets all hope the ship doesn't sink on the way as happened once to a ship full of new BMWs. Not that I'm trying to worry you!!!! I'm sure you will enjoy the car when it does arrive. Keep us posted.

Got a build date for week 49, but have ordered an 'exclusive' colour, doubt it will be here before the VAT goes up at the end of the year!!!

Anyone had any experience with waiting times for non standard colours, the dealer was telling me it has to go to a different factory to be sprayed, not sure if I believe him.

Ordered S3 in allegedly exclusive Misano red (which was not available as standard to the S3 but is for the A3 ) around 20th Nov 2007.

Car available for collection 6th Feb 2008. Roughly 11 weeks later, inclusive of the holidays in between.

Not bad imho.

How long after the stated build date did it arrive though?

It is a worry, hope it doesnt happen on mon/tues , luckily ive got the pleasure of driving my 07 S3 until the new one arrives so prob not bursting as much as you - but in saying that ive never been so excited about a new car even though essentially its the same one.

What docks do the cars arrive at in england?

Audi's arrive in England (rather than england) at two ports. It depends on where the dealer is situated. For the London, the South and South West it tends to be Sheerness and for the Midlands and North it's Immingham, near Grimsby.

My dealer is in Cambridgeshire and all my A3s have come in through Immingham.

Thanks for the info + grammar lesson, well my dealer is in yorkshire....sorry Yorkshire so it will most certainly be Immingham, was just wondering as they are sending out transport first thing on monday morning to get it back as soon as they can.

Thanks again

Just trying to keep the standards up!! Yes if they are sending a vehicle to collect it from the port it will almost certainly be Immingham. It does depend when the ship arrives because I understand some preparation work is done at Immingham before the cars can leave.

Mind you my spell-checker wants to replace Immimgham with Birmingham so I hope they send their driver to the right place!!

Yeah good luck finding a boat in Birmingham, i understand there will be all the delivery checks and a valet etc...so could be a late pick up for me, anyway im off to get drunk to get my mind off it

Thanks again Dave

Enjoy it when you do get you hands on it.

There's nothing quite like collecting a driving away a brand new car, especially if that car is a new Audi.

I've had 4 brand new Golf GTI's and 1 new Golf VR6, 3 other new Audi's and 7 brand new A3s and I still get a great feeling when I collect a new one.

H5djr, what dealer do you use? I am getting mine from Huntingdon audi if that rings a bell to you. Even though im im in yorkshire :p Just saw you are from Cambs :)

I'll take it mine will be coming from Immingham!

Yes all my A3s have come from Huntingdon Audi. Who are you dealing with. All the time I have using them I have dealt with Lee Stubbings. He is now their Local Development Manager, whatever that means and mostly deals with local business customers but he still deals with some customers who have been using him for a long time.

I always had excellent service from all departments.

That is who I am dealing with , Lee Stubbigs :) but as the build has gone on it is Tracy Bedford who has been keeping me updated. Maybe you could give them a ring and get them to hurry up! lol Good to hear that I am dealing with a good dealer though. And hopefully they will supply the car on time.

Good he is a great guy. He is also the nephew of Gary and Nigel Vindis who own Huntingdon Audi, as well as several other Audi, VW, and Skoda dealerships in the area. I've known both of them over the years and again they are great chaps.

And of course the lovely Tracy. A couple of years ago I called into to see Lee about the new car I had on order on the same day when another member of this forum was collecting their new A3. Tracey was on reception and was wearing a jumper that matched the colour of the car being collected. I commented about this and said I hope she would do the same when I collected mine. You will have to wait and see was her comment with a cheeky smile.

When I did collect mine, which was Silver she was dressed in black jumper and trousers but disapeeared and came out wearing a silver top hat and did a little dance. Lovely girl.

Audis (rather than Audi's)

:whistle2:

Yes you are stricly correct but personally I use the ' between Audi and the s because it does make the word Audi stand out rather than Audis. But there is no way England should use a small 'e'. Quite a few members on here tend to use what I call 'lazy tpying' and never use the shift key at all and it's mainly that we are trying to improve.

lazy tpying?

stricly?

sorry, couldnt help myself......lol

Typo rather than lazy typing. Lazy typing is where the person cannot be bothered to use the shift key and types everything in lower case. We all make small spelling mistakes and typos. These are acceptable but lazy typing is not.

Well after the disappointment of being told my car wont be ready saturday just gone, i woke up this morning with huge excitement as i was planning on taking delivery tonight, just spoke to Audi who have now informed me its not gonna be ready til thursday (gutted), its only days but they drag so long at this stage.

Its apparently at Grimsby as we speak but for whatever reason (checks etc prob) its gonna take til thursday to get it, they say it might affect the part ex price of my current vehicle as its gone into a new month - but also said they might take my car today and put me in a hire car til thurs, i hope they do this as it was promised delivery in the last week of Nov, so its not my fault its been delayed

Only an extra few days Johnny! Bet you was gutted. However you should not be feeling a thing, I have still not heard anything and its been another week so its more then likely still sat at the flippin docks. What build week was you told?
