Just ordered the cruise stalk/cover for my S3 (fbmfsw/dis) anybody in the winchester,Hampshire area interested in coding it for me for a fee (cant justify buying a lead etc)
Thanks

oops could a mod move this to the VCDS forum
thanks:icon_thumright:

So wouldnt vcds cable be useful for now & future mate?

So wouldnt vcds cable be useful for now & future mate?

Thought about buying one and yes I am sure it would come in useful (hate my dash light going off as I drive through shaded areas which only happens when lights are on auto) sure I have read somewhere that changing settings to dash lights always on stops this.
So thats two reasons, perhaps when the car is out of warrenty I will (if I still have it then)

You mean the dash light sensor, well you can adjust some settings for the instruments, needles etc, I did this for a member, but sensor seemed to work either way, but differing clusters have different options, so not impossible to do what you want.

But that isnt covered under warranty mate, nor would any mods be, so if you did intend to do any mods, it would save the £100+ an hour at audi.

If you ever need the kit please PM me.

Picked up the cruise kit this morning was a bit surprised to find the cruise stalk and indicator/light stalk as one combined unit (single board across the back of both units)
After double checking with the parts guy he confirmed its the correct Audi kit (8P0054690) my car is a August 08 facelift (sp2)
Cover (8P0953512A6PS) Hope its correct
Another question,if I fit it does it render the car unusable untill its coded or will the cruise just not work.
Oh f--k perhaps I should have let Audi do it :scared2::drag:

Its a challenge mate, dont be a pussy, lol, just means you wont have cruise, rest should work fine.

Yeap comes as whole unit.

BTW whats SP2

Isnt SP2 used to identify a facelift 8p (that or a mid windows XP upgrade)
meow, meow lol (now where is my hammer)

oops I meant SP3
Time I went and laid down:faint:

For all you guys who have cables and vcds how complicated is it to program for cruise control (for a newbie)

You mean 8P3, the labelling never really took of mate, another idea that tbh I feel was pointless, saying 08 facelift was enough, lol.

Also not being biaised, but its not hard to do much with VCDS tbh fella, as long as you take your time, read & listen to others advice then you cant go wrong, you'll pick it up quick aswell.

Installed my cruise retrofit kit this afternoon. It went fairly well, checked my module (8P0 953 549F) So hopefully it should work once its coded.
Only problem I have is my airbag warning light comes on with the ignition switched on,then briefly goes out when starting car but the comes on and stays on.
So any ideas, does it need resetting as I have disconnected it or do I need to remove it again and check the connections.
thanks

One word mate, VAGCOM, lol.

You will get the light when removing wheel/airbag if battery still connected, vagcom will turn it of.

The whole thing needs coding by the sound of it.

Yeah cruise needs coding aswell, but airbag code thrown is just a Clear Code job unless he's not connected the airbag fully, even so still would get the light which vagcom would clear, overall as Pat will advise its a great tool for times like these that saves you £100+ an hour at audi.

Thanks for the replies , I appreciate it needs coding, still deciding what route to go regarding purchasing VCDS.
Part of me wants to get a cable just concerned that I might not have
a) The ability to use it
b) Mess up more than I fix
c) Not use it enough

Thanks again for the info

Dude, your username might say it, but I think you're far from that, lol, its not hard to use trust me, you wont mess anything up as long as you follow some simple rules, make a note of your codes before, then once coding changed if something is wrong just change it back, plus there's me & others on here to help.

I know some who have bought who were honestly saying they were computer illiterate, but they have come back to me saying its fairly simple & no problems, so step up to the plate matey, lol.

Also even in its 1st use mate its paid for the fees audi would charge, so everything afterwards is free, also resale value is very high, so cant really go wrong mate, PM anyone on the VCDS Supplier thread in the VCDS section & they will advise what its like.

Take my word for it, you will not regret one day.

Vagcom changed my life. In the past, girls would laugh at my airbag light ! Children and Nun's would poke fun at my crappy radio reception. Even cute fluffy kittens would wet themselves at the sight of my finger pinching windows...My life was hell and i thought about ending it. Then !!!! someone told me about vagcom and how it had changed their life and it could do the same for me.
I purchased a lead from Nige and strait away i felt i had turned a corner. I put out that airbag light and showed the girls i was a man...I tuned the radio to Alice Cooper and frightened the children and Nuns away ! I even found if i adjusted the Aircon with the windows open..I could make the sun come out.
Now i use my vagcom lead to hold my trousers up, that way i always have it with me. I laugh in the face of warning lights and i walk this land knowing that i can tackle anything............and my trousers will not fall down.

LMFAO never a dull day with Pat, lol

Hey N8
Any idea how much lower an S-line is over std ?
Would 19s look ok without dropping the whole car ?

20mm maybe, I would drop on eibach pro's mate which are 30mm from DPM, they sit absolutely perfectly & I'm not a lowering freak, so was quite impressed by stance.

My S-Line was on Eibach's when I bought it, and it looked maybe 5mm lower than a regular S-Line at best.

It was on 19's and didn't look like an off roader, but it didn't look quite low enough either.

I wouldn't recommend changing from S-Line to Eibach for cosmetic reasons (although the car apparently has better ride on the Eibach's!).

This pic is when the coilovers went on, and is approx 65mm from factory height (ie approx 45mm from S-Line height), if this helps give you an idea?

I like your car Pete, looks really nice, for some reason those wheels look photoshopped there....:readit:

Here's my A3. Sat on the lowest setting which is -65mm. Thats on KW V2 Coilovers

Definitely better ride on eibachs over oem kit, a hell of an improvement over sport for sure, sline reports also seem improved.

Good choice of rimmage on yours there matey. Looks quality.

My wheels were very shiny and polished in that pic... they look "bedded in" at the moment :( Definitely not a 'shop though!

My next mod is a new timing chain. That's looking to cost enough! After than that I think I'm done - maybe some H&R ARB's. I've had plenty of cars that have turned into money pits in the past, so want to keep this one sensible.

New timing chain, really? ££££? H&R ARBs will make your handling...simply... I know what you mean about money pit, my car is currently like this for a pit

bottomlesspit.jpg

Aside the banter, H&R arb's are very worthy upgrade, tad rich though, but just watch the front fitment round I think was a subframe upright, depends on thickness you go for, that the casting of the frame in that area has a raised pointed line from the 2 casting molds that the arb knocked against, so had to grind it flat to get rid of the poxy noise, real ball breaker but is good now, also watch out it doesnt cause the infamous rack issue on the left side, happened to mine, think my rack was already on its way but didnt help the several changes of arb's

Yeah £2162 was the original quote. Currently negotiating "goodwill" with Audi, as it's not satisfactory that they've stretched in 60,000 miles.

Not really sure about the ARB's as not sure at the moment how long I'll be keeping the car for. I can get a good price on them, but it's a good few hours to fit, and I just break stuff if I have a go myself!

£2162 - :ninja::wtf::bye::faint:

You take £830 of parts and mix in 10 hours at £105 an hour. Before serving, add the VAT, and there you have it, a fresh £2162 bill.

I'm a bit grumpy about it tbh!
