And you thought Audi's were Pricey!

Its a big old total but what if you save a life ?

£11.000 for a something that cost about £500.00 to make!!!!!!

Im Glad i have an Audi and not a cheap plastic car made from re-cycled phones, and bamboo shoots.

Shuuussh......... nobody tell Audi, they would sh*t bricks if they heard there was a perfectly legal way to charge £11k for a new bonnet :):)

Seriously though, funny thread all the bickering and arguing, personally I think the place that has done the repairs has taken the mickey with its pricing.

I'm going to start booting the front of Skylines :)

I'd definately disable that if I owned one.
And Jap motors are certainly not made from bamboo shoots, I had a Toyota Supra, and the build quality was superb.
Just look at the JD power survey, if i remember correctly there were 3 or 4 Lexus' in the top 10 one year.

Can anyone explain this pedestrian safety system because I dont understand why the bonnet would pop and the ECU would become useless!

I'd also like to know how many accidents a year we get in the UK where a pedestrian is hit as I think its quite a rare occurance compared to normal shunts! If people were running into pedestrians all the time then all cars would have this safety feature!

Something else for GTR drivers to get paranoid about...kids playing football within 100 yards of the car :lmfao:

According to the actual Thread on the GTROC forum, the ECU fires actuators under the bonnet in a micro second to raise it which damages the bonnet hinges in the process. The idea is to provide a spring loaded cushion for the pedestrian that you just hit, and to push to over your windscreen and bonnet to reduce injuries?
The ECU is an unknown why it need to be replaced, but some seem to think the ECU has a charge in it which fires and renders it useless for round 2.

That is way over the top! Surely it isn't needed in this country or all cars would have similar systems! Driving into pedestrians must be an every day occurance in Japan for them to fit something like this!!!
