Lava Grey / Black Optics Grille

Hello all,

I have ponderd for weeks over this and thought i would ask the opinions of the group.

I have a lava grey a3 3dr and wondered what you thought of me putting the Black optics S line grille on, or the standard S line Grille?

I know they look good on the white and even silver a3's but not sure what to do, theres not alot of difference in the price so that make no odds what do you think?

Mike optic grill i'm going for looks the business on lava grey A3. Blazin got one on his lava grey 5door. There should be a picture of another member A3 in the photo thread.
But the chrome surround does also look rather good aswell.

Just out of interest, whats the difference between an Sline grill and a black optics grill, if i just spray my black grill, is that not the same thing?

The pictures look awesome its an inspiration, maybe a chance i have to take! im at the begining of the cars transformation.

As someone said on the forum the car is on stilts and on standard wheels, so it a long road eh!

Just017 maybe someone can give you advice on the spraying, personally if your going to do that stoke audi do a black surround so maybe something to consider

You're welcome! Be careful pulling the old grill from the bumper. Make sure you have enough flathead screwdrivers (about 2-3) and a mate to help you take that off.

Im thinking of the S Line grille on a Dark Grey A3 TDI 2003. Will this fit or is the whole bumper needed, as it looks identical?

Are there any options of replicas or are genuine Grilles a must?

Give Dave at Stoke Audi a call he is very helpful and can def steer you in the right direction with b7, part numbers etc, i got fecked about alot with second hand parts so decided to buy new.

Up to you in the end maybe post a pic or 2 so we can see more experienced members might save you a call

Not the £1000 kit that I read earlier then, thats not too bad £120. Cant see the difference between the S3 one anyway.

The S3 grille will only fit the S3 bumper = more money and the s line grille, the Sline bumper

S3 front is a costly upgrade if you try and fit a s3 bumper to your front (assuming you have the onepiece grille) Benskin will tell you that it will leave a gap of around 10mm at the bottom so you shoud be careful, as with pre face lift (up to 2004) you willneed the bonnet as well, do you have the two piece grille at the mo?

For the S line front, if you have the same bumper as i have at the mo it will only cost you the grille

S3 Front Bumper/Grill and Old Style Bonnet (Still need a new one)

A4 B7 grill wont fit an A3/S3 bumper. If your gonna do the conversion try ebay there an s-line bumper on there for £110 or try Dave at Stoke Audi cheaper than most dealers and helpful. He one of the sponsor's on the site. Hope that helps

I have a 2003 exactly like that, infact is that mine? Cheers for that. I see the pic above, the grill doesnt sit flush with the bonnet.

All I want is the one piece grille, I have the 2 piece and just wanted to make it an S line front.

So all I need is a s line front grille, no bumper etc your saying?

i have a 2006 A3 2.0tdi 3dr sport. had it for a couple of weeks now and i really want to get the black optics grille but cant find them anywhere in the uk.

would appreciate anyone who could point me in the right direction.

They are very rare 2nd hand and when they do come up they comand a high resale value. TBH, i'd bite the bullet & go to Audi unless you have a long time to wait.
