Jerky DSG

Not only do I have the squeaky noise when I start the car....But now the DSG is jerky when it's cold and ok when warm

I was supposed to be getting rid of the car....probably it doesn't want to go.....

I can just see pound signs to get things put right

Don't get me started on DSG...I ****** hated it I might have mentioned this before, but I'm in a minority. Everyone else reckons it's ****** brilliant because it changes gear in 0.0000000000000001 seconds.

I like the DSG when it's warmed up...but it's a pain now the cold weather is here

DSG is the way forward....I bet old hotbox would like a manual brass fuel pump on the side of the door and advance ****** lever on the steering wheel as well. Perfect in Auto in traffic and huge grin factor on the paddles round the lanes.

Yeah perfect for around lanes etc and in traffic on long journeys...Mind you if expensive to sort out I'll might end up keeping it....Been in touch with AMD about the Stage 3...And was told it's alot sharper throttle response....But will notice a big difference in Mid range and Top end....

I agree with you Paddy. This is my third A3 with a DSG and I always drive using the paddles. I only ever use D in a traffic jam. It still brings a smile to my face everytime I change gear using the paddles. I would NEVER want another car without a DSG.

I agree with you Paddy. This is my third A3 with a DSG and I always drive using the paddles. I only ever use D in a traffic jam. It still brings a smile to my face everytime I change gear using the paddles. I would NEVER want another car without a DSG.

I also agree...the DGS is really nice to use....that's why I'm trying to explore every avenue for more power, I really don't want to get rid of it but I want an Impreza....

I can understand wanting more power. Mine has a few mods and may be putting out near 270bhp, but it's not a quick car.

In the UK there are plenty of roads with an opportunity to exploit a quick car.

You could ask the same question to nearly everybody on this site who has had a remap for more power....Who don't live in Germany but live in the uk....

I'm just wondering wether £2300 on the stage 3 is worth it...AMD told me that I will notice a big difference and that's what i need....But without spending a lot more after the stage 3 then I'm limited....I love my car especially the DSG...but just want more power....

but I do travel through Germany 4 times a yr does that count

When you'll take the cat to the service, ask them to check the mechatronic unit ftom the gearbox. There are some valves there which tend to jam and cause this jerky behavior.

Could well be something like that as mine went through a jerky phase a few months back and it now silky smooth again.

thing is Pete, your are like me , used to bike power so no car is ever going to feel really quick. I think for the money a tweaked 3.2 is quick enough to have some fun. but then its how you drive it. i met guys on the race circuit on 125cc bikes that would leave a lot of R1 riders for dead on normal roads so i tend to think its not really the car thats quick...its the driver, if you get my meaning.
