Hi all,

This is my first post. I would like to introduce myself. I live in Glasgow and have been an admired of Audis ever since I owned an old A80 in the 90's. My real passion is Harleys so forgive me if I ask dumb questions about cars in general and Audis in particular............:sorry:

Anyway, thanks for letting me in and I hope I can contribute.

I may be changing my 03 Golf 1.4 for a 05 2.0 TDi.

The one I am looking at is 3 door in dark grey, I notice the rear disk back plates are pretty badly corroded so that is something that will need to be looked at along with some "car park" rash on the passenger door.

The dealer is asking just short of £9k with 77,500 miles.

Havent a clue about A3's so I will welcome all advice and assistance which is offered.

TIA

Stuart

We need to get together at some point, with Paul in Killie etc just to catch up.

no probs, just let me know when! theres a few others on here from north of the border as well that would probably be up for it as well! :icon_thumright:

9k is a lot for that, esp with some light damage.
id be up for a wee get together too.

I have a 2005 Sportback with 70k on the clock.
I have had my front discs changed as they were below Audi's recommended minimum thickness.
Check that the cambelt has been changed as this is due at 75k.
Try to get some form of warranty as the earlier 2.0 litre diesel and petrol engines were prone to cracked cylinder heads. (Just had mine changed under extended Audi warranty)

That's a little expensive, I bought my '06 55 reg Sportback (2.0Tdi Sport 88k) in May for 7.5k (knocked him down from 8k) from a Stratstone dealer with 3 months warranty.
