Hi. My Car is a 51 reg S3 with one piece headlights so not sure if that makes it a facelift version. When I purchased my car I trusted the dealers description that it was a 225bhp model however I am now starting to wonder if I have the 210bhp instead. Doesn't really bother me either way as it will be getting a remap soon but was just curious.

check the engine code mate. im sure 51's would be 210. mines an amk which is 210

An engine code od BAM would be a 225 bhp.
look at the stamped code on the top front of the head,
it will be three leters...
Mine is a 2001 face lift and it was a AMK engine code... Its now a BAM though.

Thanks all just checked my v5 and its an AMK so 210 it is. Still not sure what remap to go for but thinking i may pay Doug at MRC a visit cos least then I know its gonna get a full health check before any remapping takes place.

Mine is a facelift 2002 51 plate BAM.

I'm a little confused now, assumed all this age were 225?

I thought the same, mine was even advertised as a 225.

You can check in the boot under the flooring there should be a sticker with it written on. It will say the KW. 154kw = 210, 165kw = 225

Both models pretty much come out the same after remap, around 260 ish

i am going to get mine remaped it just dont feel fast, mind you i have a 3 m3s, m5 skylines etc think this moght be why??

Also came from an M car. I agree the S3 was slow until remapped. Still not got quite the accelleration after the map but similar torque and more traction makes it a comparable B road weapon especially in bad weather.

Enjoy!

Who done your remap? what bhp is it now?

JBS in Chesterfield. Recommend them. I've not had it dyno'd but its a std stage 1, so about 260ish? Torque is the impressive bit though as that rises to about 270lb/ft which is the same as the M3!
