What Wax should I buy ?

Hi All,

I have recently polished my car with AG SRP and AG Gloss Protection but now I'm wanting to wax it ready for the winter and was wondering what to buy!

The only wax I've ever used before is the AG HD Wax that came out last year (which I would just like to say, it did a good job but it wasn't as easy as I hoped it would be to buff off) anyway now that I've reached the end of the pot, I was wondering if I should buy something better........i.e more expensive ?

I know more expensive doesn't always mean better but then again you do get what you pay for most of the time!

I was thinking of buying some Zymol Creame or Carbon Wax as my car is Atlas Grey so it is quite a light colour but my question is though...... is the Zymol 100% better than the AutoGlym wax as it is 100% more expensive ?

If not Zymol then what others should I consider ?

Personally I like Collinite 476s as it's so durable.

Another for collinite 476 great stuff i use it regular but my favourite has to be the dodo juice supernatural, but be prepared to pay for it. I payed £80 for mine

RG55 is an amazing wax and Very durable. I have tried 476 and a few dodo waxes and i prefer RG55 by far. Only my opinion.

I find that Sealants are very good, I have Duragloss and its very easy on and off and looks great and lasts for ages.. its only £13.. too.. I used it on most of my cars.. see link..

Have you considered the werkstat acrylic kit, I posted some pics on here when I used it on my dolphin grey audi, have a look and see what you think. The results are amazing and you can get the whole kit including microfibres for under £50.

Considering your car is Atlas Grey and you want it protected for the winter then Werkstat Acrylic would be my choice. It's a very popular system for light metalics such as silver and greys etc and its durability through the winter months is awesome once you have 5 or 6 coats on the car. You can layer the sealant as many times as you like (as long as you leave 30 mins in between) and you can even use it on all exterior trim and window rubbers etc :icon_thumright:

How many applications did you get out of your HD wax?

The reason you may have found it hard to remove could be thet you apply it to thick?

I made this mistake when I first applied colly, I used that much that I would have prob only got 5 layers on!!...and it was an absolute two-hat to buff off. I later found out that i should be applying it so thinly that you can hardly see it on the paint.

I think I got about 5 layers out of it so I think you could well be right! Especially after what I've been reading on what it says about other waxes etc. I think I may have left it a bit too long as well....

I also want to get one of these little £50 kits from PB, However, i really dont trust myself with claying my car, so can i use this gear simply after a good clean? Or is it only to be used after a claying?

What do you mean "don't trust yourself"???
If you get the meguirs quik detail clay kit, it is quick, easy and totally safe. I would definitely recommend doing it, you will be amazed at the difference. There is no risk as this is a mild clay.

Ive heard a few horror stories of people claying there cars and being left with paintwork worse off than when they started! Suppose it cant e that bad though, maybe i will give that Meguiars kit a go then! If its as easy and safe as you say it is. Anyone know when PB will get that Werkstat kit in stock? Also, has anybody bought there wheel cleaning kit before? Any alternatives/suggestions?
