Turbo upgrade :)

I have to admit I'm very pleased with the performance of the Outlaw turbo on the purple car and would definitely recommend one. As far as a direct bolt on upgrade goes I doubt there is much that would better it to be honest.
 
$600 plus post, plus a donor K04 iirc

I think in GBP it comes to a shade under £500 to my door, for a direct bolt in upgrade.

Are you thinking about getting the t3? If so I may be interested in the hybrid.

...think I've got everything together now for the conversion so it's time to do a mock up TIP to check it'll all fit together (and fit in the engine bay).

I've made a hybrid 3" MAF housing from a cheap 3" and a Bosch housing that I had spare. I'll get some pics up asap.
 
what size filter?
direct or through Badger?

you probably don't want to hear this but Bill Brockbank does them at discount rates...
for future anyway...for when that one gets sucked into the turbo running at 35psi!
 
Which turbo was this ? A Derivative / hybrid of the K03 or K04 ?

The turbo's a hybrid K04-015. Scroll products build them. It's Called an SP51X (outlaw) and it's a slightly higher spec than the K04 fitted to the TT 225 (K04-023?).
 
Yes, would be useful to know for future reference, how you get hold of scroll products ?

Got a posh self sealing T for the N75 to connect to. Fits nice and tight into a silicone hose..

Here's a pic of the hybrid MAF housing. I used a cheap 3" diameter housing for the bottom cylinder, cut the neck (sensor mounted in the wrong position and the screw centres were different to the Bosch sensor), cut the neck from a spare Bosch housing, bonded together, sealed and primed. Will also be getting a couple of coats of black to finish it off when I get time..

Planning a cold side relocation for my DV and rather than have to change all my hoses, these would be a suitable alternative. My custom TIP takes up a bit of room and its all tight around the DV plus I seem to eat N75 hoses so I want to tidy it all up.

I was considering relocating my DV when I install the Garrett as it's going to be a tight squeeze to get everything to fit in next to the turbo.. I don't think buying the worlds biggest air filter has helped much either lol.

I presume the only benefit from relocating the DV other than the increase in space is that the heat from the turbo/exhaust can't affect the valves performance?

Purely logistical on my part, its very tight where I now have a 3" TIP and the only pipe that fits off the charge pipe to the DV is the OEM one and thats seen better days.

I am relocating purely as its a better placement than for any other reason

I ended up using a MKIII VR6 housing.
These will work for AEB/AJL "old style" MAF Elements.
TT225/S3 will NOT work! They use a different element bolt orientation which is critical for MAF readings.


I'm really interested if there's any further progress on the AGU/M3.8.3 ECUs hooked up to an AJL loom/cluster/engine.
Any progress in the future, please post up.

That will explain the issues lee had then! Presumably the TT unit will work for the later maf type?

I was sure i'd read about a VR6 housing that could be used, but i wasnt sure, so thats good to know.
 
I managed to set the intake up today to check that everything will fit into place..

DV will sit very close to the original position.​

The only thing left to finalise is the DP to exhaust connection. I'm not certain that the alignment is correct although it is fairly close!​
 
That looks good mate, almost there by the looks.

The n75 connection going onto a screw in barb?

Also a thought,you breathing to atmos or using the PCV pancake?

Just the exhaust connection to sort out

you keeping all the vacuum and check valve nonsense or deleting it?
 
Keeping all of the connection other than the PCV to start with. I'll bung a filter on the PCV/engine vent and see how it goes; if there's any sign that it's causing running issues then I'll connect it back up but if not I'll invest in a catch can and then vent that atmosphere.

Yeah I bought one of those posh screw in barb connections for the N75 to fit into one of the silicone hoses in the intake.

Got a plastic barbed connection that fits into a hard pipe (think I'll use one of the metal joining sections) for the connection from the EVAP valve thingamy-jig.

Exhaust might be a pain as my DP doesn't line up with the exhaust system well enough to cut, join and sleeve successfully!?!
 
Any benefit to removing all that junk other than less problem areas and looking tidier

I can see where you're coming from mate but I need my N75 connection for the map and it's only the connection from the EVAP that I'll be keeping if all goes to plan so it shouldn't overly complicate things.
