I think its been discussed before, but im aquiring a whole car for less then a years tax as its an MOT failure, and ive got a brand new set of Turbo VR6 pistons ready to be used so im thinking VR6T instead of repairing my 1800T.

Discuss!

seen it done but no idea if the standard box mounted up ok. it would be good thou if done right.

Will bolt to the box fine, it takes some fetling to the bulkhead and slam panel to get it to fit iirc.

034 has done a big power one IIRC

Nothing, its just the turbo. But i experienced a VR6t at the local VW meet this week and i like. I like very much. SO now ive bought this VR6 golf i have many plans in my head. I was going to transplant an S4 engine into my audi anyway, but im steering away from that with all the reading ive done....

if I had a TQS then this would be a project I would definately look at

3.6 VR6 with a big turbo :)

If going vr6 wouldnt the fourmotion 24v engine be a better choice?

Without hijacking this thread I am torn at the moment....Originally bought The 2.8 30v avant to test the water, having never owned an Audi. I am so impressed with it, and after doing a few things to her, I am contemplating keeping her as opposed to selling up and buying an S4. Been reading up and have found out that with a PES supercharger it would be faster than a standard S4. However, also found out that a V8 would be roughly the same cost aftet install, but even more powerfull than the PES option!

Phoenix: if your prepared to put the spannering in yourself the V8 would probably work out cheaper, and you can always bolt on a pair of blowers if you want more ;)

Drizz: Sounds good, but can you get that from the 2.8 12v motor, or will you be needing a 3.2>/24v motor

Phoenix: something to consider is that even 300hp worth of VR6 turbo will cost a LOT more than a V8. The standalone management and mappinng alone would likely pay for everything required to install a stock V8, never mind buying all the parts for the VR6 conversion.

then you have to think why not just buy an s4? 2.7 v6 twin turbo and 265bhp standard for 4k these days. thats what im trying to decide now, sell the quattro sport to get an s4 or spend money on mine to make it faster?

The problem I have now is I'm growing quite attached to mine! She's shaping up nicely and wouldn't want to see the back of her! Funnily enough I had an RS4 b5 engine a while back. My neighbhours son died in a car crash. Few months later he approached me when I was doing an oil change on my mrs range rover. He asked me if I wanted to buy an engine that was in his sons lock up that he was trying to clear out. My eyes almost popped out of my head when I saw it!!! He wouldn't take a penny over £500 for it. Just wanted the money for a headstone... Did ask about doing a swap on the vwaudiforum, and oldschool suggested I join here and ask. Few days later I swapped it for an oak floor. My mates a carpenter and wanted it for some crazy project. Gutted now though!!!!:keule::Flush::blownose:

Yup, a lot of talk about whacking a turbo onto an R36 lump over on AudiSRS too.

Even stock those R36's are quick, really quick. When I went to Santa Pod the other month there was a stock Passat R36 whooping M3's all day.

Im loving 034s one.
So Byzan youre sure it bolts to my 5sp box?
So with the bulkhead/slam panel fettling itll go straight in? WHat about mounts etc? Will i need to make them?
Also wiring? Will it communicate with the Audi system?

Re-searched the VR6 turbo engine now. Looks/sounds F'ing awesome!!!!! Good luck buddy.

usp motorsport's vr6t powered s4. 826awhp at 36psi does high 9 1/4 mile think the quickest time is 9.7

Its the way id go now if i didnt have a built 2.7t engine in the s4. Id also go with the 12v over the 24v.
