i was wondering whats an average mpg people get for town driving? i cant give an accurate reading but if i drive sensibly i can get about 25 in town. On the motorway i can get about 40 or more as long as i drive sensibly! But, sometimes I cant help booting it down the road lol

i get 19-21 mpg atm but i think my secondary air pump is goosed so i think thats why its so low plus it's been remaped to 270bhp or so i was told when i bought it need to rr it to find out lol

I know its sad but i keep a track on the MPG i get on each full tank. I currently average 27mpg. A full tank of about 55ltrs does me good for around 300 miles depending on the type of driving.

the main driving i do is to and from work which is only 2.5 miles up the road, so the car hardly gets chance to warm up. this returns about 23mpg. but i also get the odd motorway run in of about 100miles or so which brings the average up. Driving at 70 on the M'way with just myself and a passenger returns about 35-40mpg with steady driving.

Oh, and i try to use super Unleaded when i can (although the current tesco 99 octane im using doesnt seem to be doing the business). any advice on best type of fuel?

So, how do you know if secondary air pump has had it? what should i be looking/listening out for? oh, and what does it actually do? :uhm:

My DIS shows 27.3mpg but realistically its in the low 20's when driving around town, motorways is better high 20's easily, my mpg has improved since changing the pre cat lambda though

The DIS this week is showing 25.4mpg atm, thats a combo of country/B roads (up and down hills) and in town... not too bad considering I have a BT :)

I do drive pretty economically where I can and use cruise control (even on windy B roads) although there are times when the power has to be used to get past the 28mph in a national speed limit crew... ;P

<tuffty/>

I get approx 25 around town and 30-32 on way to work which is 60miles.

I have an extremely heavy right foot sometimes which doesnt help.

town drivin....bout 25/30 mpg on the motorway 32/40mpg....thats wiv a 1.6...though I doubt anyone is interested LOL!!

Average 25mpg overall, despite the DIS telling my 27.9 constantly. 13mpg track work, 22mpg average around town only, 30mpg+ motorway work averaging 80(kph :))

About 30mpg on average. Think its about 28 around town...on a run on the motorway I'll get about 34mpg which I thinks pretty damn good :)

approx 21mpg but to and fro work the car isnt fully warmed up, plus my right foot has a mind of its own at times. :uhm:

I drive mainly a mixture of b-roads and town.
DIS says 26.6mpg.
It did say 26.0mpg until I drove to Glasgow and back lastnight!

The A4 says 25.3mpg despite being about 200kg lighter, interestingly.

28mpg on average in my FWD 1.8T. And that's driving 'carefully', I don't bother checking when driving enthusiastically....

reading through most of the posts I can see what most of you drive when stating the mpg, but some of you have nothing - as there is a variety of figures they are actually from a variety of cars. So look carefully at the bottom of each post to see what car each is talking about and whether it's been modded.

Now onto mine, audi s3 2002 standard 225bhp engine - I keep accurate figures. In town driving (london/surrey) traffic 18-22mpg. motorway variable driving speeds from 60-90 mph 38-43 mpg. These are not dashboard display figures. I don't do many motorway miles. mileage on vehicle is about 90K and regularly serviced. miles per year about 3K.

My MPG figures are calculated with brim to brim fueling figures so pretty accurate, and the car is running AmD Stage1 remap and 19" rims.

What did you do? Get on the track, reset the DIS, then nail it 100 yards, come off at the first bend, then took a photo :)

Errmmmm No cannot say I did that tbh.
