Keyless Remote kit - Votex

Grateful for any assistance......

I currently have a Votex Remote Entry kit installed directly into my Central Locking pump to give me the ability to unlock/lock my car via a key fob.

The kit was made by Votex and purchased from VAGPARTS.COM

I managed to lose my keys and hence lose the Votex key fob!

Now VAGPARTS.COM have closed down, does anyone know where I can purchase a replacement keyfob?

I did e-mail them an houg ago asking if this kit will connect to my 1998 A4 TDi.
The Votex kit connected in-line with the pump - no cutting wites etc....
This kit looks as if I need to find which wire to connect it to.
The price is very good though, and if I get 2 blank keys/transmitters with the kit then it is a bargain as I have lost my car key as well!
Am I right in thinking that any old locksmith can cut an Audi key? Looks like it needs to be milled, not the same as a yale key?

Most locksmiths can cut the keys, yours is early too, so you'll be ok.

Just need to carefully transfer your chip over to the new fobs.
 
Just received the unit from RClick.
Very impressed...... For £32 delivered you cannot go wrong.
Beats the hell out of the Votex unit which cose £100 from vagparts.com

Flip keys are not amazing quality, but they do work.
Got keys cut for £10 each.
Will have to swap the transponder over so the car starts though!

Sods law, my keys were handed into my local police station.......
There are some honest people out there!

Still need the kit as the car key must have been run over outside my house, at lease I don't have to worry about someone breaking into my house/stealing my car.

audi upgrades
Install went fine, apart from their colour code for the unlock sense wire.
Managed to get the correct wire as the Votex unit wireed into the correct one!

The unit works fine, both keyfobs operate once they have been programmed to the unit. Took about 30 mins in total.

Quality of the keyfobs are not much different from the Audi ones, same size.

For £32 delivered you cannot go wrong!

Noticed that they also sell HID conversion kits, might have a go at one of these later in the year.

Any chance of a little write up or step by step guide for this?

Will be doing this in the not too distant future and am keen to get an idea before starting whats involved - wiring is not my forté.

Have you managed to swap the transponder over?

Which code of keys did you get with the unit?

Had a search but i cant see what i'm looking for.

When you order the unit you specify what type of blank key you want, also what symbol on the stickers for the back of the key fob.

There is a PDF to printout that gives you the connection diagram.
Takes about 45mins to do the job.
Easy job to transfer the transponder over from the old key to the new keyfobs.

I have the Votex unit for sale if you want, I was going to put it on Ebay.
Someone handed in my lost keys to the police so I have both remote fobs with it. Much easier to install, you can do it in less than 5 Mins. No wiring involved, just plug it in-line with the plugs to the Central locking pump. It also supports the total closure feature, where if you want to close your windows you just keep your finger on the lock button. The RClick unit you need to purchase an additional relay and wire it into the pump harness.
I prefer the RClick unit as the keys are like the new style Audi's.

Let me know by PM if you want the Votex unit.

has anyone whipped an idiot-proof guide to installing the r-click one as i have jsut recieved mine, but because im quite simple when it comes to car electrics (wiring my ipod kit in was an all round life altering achievment for me) the idea of putting it in gets me up in cold sweats at night...

hi i have just bought the rclick keyless entry system for my audi a4 1998 1.8T sport i wondered if there was a walkthrough on how to install it as i dont understand the instructions i have got that well any help would be fantastic

It is not all that hard. Get to the comport module, get to the wires that run to it, and connect them like this:
Black and red for power
The wires for the warning lights right to the light units
The "open" wire to the grey-white wire
The "close" wire to red-brown wire

If you combine this info with the manual, it should not be more than an hours work.

I'm not trying to be funny but if your wanting to attempt something like this then a basic understanding of a wiring diagram is required.

Given that Audi fitted a few different looms over the years its impossible to simply state wiring colors, especially when theres more than one wire the same color

"Comport module" i've no idea what he means by that. The wires you want are all located at the central locking pump in the offside rear cubbyhole in the boot.

From what i can tell on a '98, grey/white at C/9 is unlock, and red/brown at A/10 is lock.

The instructions that came with my rclick suggest that plug "C" is a 16pin White plug, and "A" is a 12pin white plug. YMMV though.
 
I meant the comfort module, that was a typo. It is located behind the right back wheel. In an avant it is in the little storage compartment there. I personally don't have any technical training, but didn't find this all to hard. The above colours are right for my 1998 B5 1.8.
 
Ye, seems he had a '98 car too, so it would have worked, but i'm sure there are more than one wire in the loom thats the same color, so providing pin numbers are useful.

My rclick kit came with detailed car specific instructions on where to connect it, so i'm not sure why buyu's didnt.
 
many thanks got it sorted wasnt that difficult once i got started and the right diagram many thanks to all of you for your help the only thing that doesnt work is the windows roll up (not sure why) on the keyless entry but everything else is hunky dory. this is a great site and very helpful people and info

I didnt bother with the window rollup on mine, its never been a problem.

I didnt like the idea of it jamming the windows against their stops every time the car was locked.

The windows will not roll up when you keep your finger on the lock button, RClick sell an addon that can do this. Not worth bothering about it.
I think it is due to the RClick module only giving a 1 second control signal to lock/unlock the doors. The total closure only starts to work after about 2 seconds and requires the signal until the windows are closed otherwise it will stop.
The module must have a relay and timer to fool the pump into doing this.

my rclick has a "window roll up" wire which outputs a 30second signal on locking.

Problem is it does it EVERY time, and i didnt like the idea of mashing all the windows into the frame everytime i lock the car, hence i left it off!
 
I don't blame you!

I just remembered I wrote a review for Rclick and put in there which plug had the wiring issue - 12 pin I think.
 
Hi I have bought a similar piece of kit not the right click though very similar. Wondering if any one has a wiring diagram for a 1997 A4 B5. AVANT 1.9 TDI. AFN ENGINE CODE ? Had a look at my central locking pump in the rear compartment looks the same as the 98 I think but would like to confirm it on the wiring diagram??
