Ive tried to do a search but can't find any infomation on the porsche cayenne 6 pot brake conversion as im planning on putting a set on my 8L S3... has anyone on here done the conversion...

That is probably due to no one here actually doing it... 6 pots are a tad over kill I would imagine... Brembos are what most people do. I have AP's though which work just as well...

Typical issues with using calipers from another vehicle are mounting brackets and master cylinder travel due to the capacity of the pistons on such calipers.

Brakes aren't worth messing about with unless you know what you are doing and most people will just recommend tried and tested.

Any particular reason for using these calipers? What rotors/discs you planning to use?

Wheel clearance will be a pain,
Ive driven an r32 golf with the ecs big 6pot kit... its almost a double press to move that much fluid.
Not confidence inspiring.
The smaller caliepers from a boxster S are a good option though. not quite as fluid thirsty

Cheers for the advice lads, has anyone got any pics of the set up on there S3 smaller caliepers from a boxster S, and can you upgrade the masterclynder off a different audi, so there wont be as much pedel travel...

Unless you want it for looks or track work, then I would just upgrade the disks and pads. If you really want Brembo brakes, then go for the Brembo GT Kit which is basically the same as the Leon Cupra R Brembo setup, with slightly different caliper design.

Or... you could try these...

Calipers are AP Racing (branded TVR) £325 a pair from ebay... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250455042455

Brackets, brake pipes and pads (DS2500) from Badger 5. You can run 323mm Leon discs or 2 piece stuff like mine (330mmx28mm) all of which still fit under a 17" wheel.

Spacers maybe needed depending on the offset of your existing wheels. I have 10mm up front which clear nice on my ET33 RSTT's.

They stop goooooood!! :o.k:

Will those TVR callipers bolt onto a 1.8T?

Im very interested in doing the conversion if so...

Just done the Cayenne 6 pot conversion on my RS4 yesterday.
Check out the pics in the B6 A4 Forum/Thread...

couldnt tell you how their fitted mate but iv got motive big brake conversion on mines and can confirm that they are unbelievable stopping power no hassle with pedal travel or anything else, only thing i will say is you need 18 inch wheels and 20mill spacers to clear calipers, ive not tried 18 inch space saver yet but conversion was done at audi so assuming it clears also make sure you use racing fluid best brakes ive ever tried amazing. Good luck with watever you fit

ive got the porsche cayenne brake conversion on my s3, cant tell you much about the work involved as i bought the car with them fitted, they have awesome stopping power and look stunning, ive got 19" rims on my car, wanted to downsize to 18s to save a bit on tyres but im not sure if 18s would clear the calipers

i would say unless you got failry big power theres no need for huge stoppers, after all if you can accelerate quickly youl want to stop just as quickly

Would be able to get some pics of the set up on ur car, what is the brake pedel like on yours is there a lot of travel...

i can do at the weekend its in the bodyshop at the moment, i know its not much help. The 996 fronts are the maximum you can run on your master cylinder. The s4 master cylinder can take brembos front an rear i believe but i am not sure if they can be swapped about, if you wanted bigger than 996 fronts.:icon_thumright:

I can give you the number of my contact theres not a single thing he does not know about putting porsche brakes on vag cars.
