Assuming US Gal and US$....

£1.10 / litre for diesel.... so that's about £4.20 per US gallon... so that's about US$7 per USgal.... only a third of that is the actual cost of the fuel (our forecourt prices shoul dbe lower than the US)... we have effectively 200% fuel tax!

It used to be about $9/gal, but that's mostly 'cos the exchange rate was US$2:£1... now it's US$1.66:£1! Fuel has come down a bit, but the government just used that as an apportunity to sneak in all the extra fuel duty that they have been delaying for the last 18 months. so the actual cost of the fuel has crashed!

Only good side is that when the cost of fuel went from 25p/litre to 45p/litre we only actually saw it going up from 90p/litre to £1.10!

Oh dear... did I start another fuel duty rant?!?

Its hard finding high octane gas here with 91 being the highest. There are a few places around that carry 100 octane at the pump and its a little over $7 a gallon. Problem is that those places are few and far between. A bunch down in southern California but where I live the closest is about 1.5 hours away. I myself become a chemist and mix 1 gallon of denatured (slow burning) per half tank of gas. My car seems to like slow burning liquid horsepower additives like methanol, denatured, toulene. 1 gallon at home depot is about $15.

103 octane at the BP pumps in Chelsea.... £2.40/litre (US$4/litre, US$15.15 / gallon).... and there's people that fill up their cars on that stuff!!

edit: but then given a parking bay (on the street) went for £250k (US$415k), that's not THAT surprising...
