thinking bout it that plate flx is on his rs3 i think

Not a bad price there's a lot of car there! Plus wheels look genuine so could easily be sold for at least a grand (to me)

Faz's old car I do believe. His plate is S3 FLX but is now on his 'RS3' hence the different plate.

well after getting insurance quotes for an e46 m3, its a no go for a few years,im getting bored of my s3 and want more power , so im thinking of selling my s3 and getting this one or a big turboed one, what do you think?

Hi mate that is a nice car surely that car with that spec would be roughly the same as m3,to insure?

The only thing that would worry me is reliability with the big turbo and high miles, doesn't worry anybody else??

Also on standard dampers. Strange considering other suspension mods.

Otherwise looks lovely.

my bt s3 has done 95k, i think so long as its been serviced and well looked after you got nothing to worry about apart from the usual wear and tear, if you havent got much experience with cars take a mate who does i.e mechanic technician etc

Don't like the wheels so they'd have to be swapped but great otherwise. How driveable are big turbo's? Lots of lag?

Shame about the miles but you arent' going to get a decent E46 M3 for under 9k and even then it won't be as fast or grippy. M3 is a more pure driving car though.

As above, insurance will be just as bad and you can't not disclose those sorts of mods!

I'd be tempted with full history and belts changed etc

Why would someone spend over £3k on their car and then put it up for sale?

Nice car though, not sure about the wheels or the location for the photos!!

Good question about selling but i guess people get the bug then run our of things to mod so start again on another project??

As for pics, it doesn't look like it should be parked there!

Id rather an M3! Why did you go from an M3 to an S3 mate? If you don't mind me asking? Most people go in the other direction, or at least Im hoping to.

I'd had my M3 4 years. Got it with 35k miles on the clock from the BMW approved network. Loved it, but all good things come to an end...

I sold it with 106k miles on it on a replacement engine that cost me £5k, new clutch, brakes etc etc. It was incredible after the work was done. (There are loads of dogs out there that simply aren't maintained well enough). It was immaculate but had cost me a fortune and i was scared i'd be bankrupt if something else went wrong. Plus i'd moved in with my Fiancee so couldn't justify running it. Awesome cars but need money to keep them right. Whats the point in having one that doesn't go right! I've driven loads of them and have to say mine was easily one of the best! I even had a 25k mile hire car M3 SMG for a month (at a cost of 16k to the third party!!).

Always wanted an S3 and it made a decent step down. Once mapped, its a better poor weather cross country commuting weapon and does over 30mpg. Happy days!

i saw this and want it to milage is a bit high for my liking though

Thanks for the info mate. One thing about the S3, it certainly is an all weather weapon and easy to drive quick.

Whilst I have the same thoughts, some people just like to sell cars that are fully working.

You could be right, and if so, its a shame there aren't more sellers out there like that. Although, I'd understand if it was a £30k car, but spending over 30% of the cars value a month before selling it seems strange. The seller could have fallen on hard times perhaps. Either way, its the first question I would ask.

I'm erring on whether to sell up and have spent over 3k on mine this year alone...I'd be lucky to get 8. I think it might be a change of circumstances which happens or changing the car to think it'll make you love it more and it doesn't happen.....not everything is black and white.

I have spent over £2k on my car in 7 months of ownership, yet I'm still looking at other cars all the time (and therefore looking to sell mine in order to fund a new purchase). However spending over £3k at the end of September and putting it up for sale at the end of October seems odd to me thats all.

Yep thats my old car!

Mileage is not an issue especially when the car has just been to QST and had everything need replacement replaced.

He has spent alot of money on it, but a change of circumstances means he has put it up! Alot of motor for the money and it use to eat E46 M3's for breakfast!

As far as I know when I had it it had Koni dampers? Im pretty sure?

thanks for all your feed back guys, its a very good point about the 3k spent,
i didnt even think about that, but could still be genuuin, im going to put my s3 on the net and get it stickered up tomorow and see what happens but theres no point me getting excited yet till i get a sale for my car.dan

Good luck with it. I don't think you'll dissapointed if all of the above is ticked.

I feel sorry for the M3 driver that stumbles across you thinking he's in for an easy win, haha!

No mention of a FMIC? I thought this was a *must* for anything beyond a stage one remap, and that's on a standard turbo? Wouldn't heat-soak set in fairly quickly with that kinda power? But maybe it has a FMIC and it's just not listed :)

MTM big turbo. You dont need a FMIC the standards ones are more then capable!

All these guys on here like http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/showthread.php?t=75425 must be throwing money away then when getting FMIC with just stage 2 remaps? If the standard one is good for 345bhp - 345ft-lb?

Or is it that these guys are getting the FMIC as they do track days? But the standard one is grand for normal (spirited) road use?

It just seemed strange that this S3 has no FMIC when putting out 345bhp, as I read somewhere that even with a stage 2 remap the S3 without a FMIC would be suffering from heat soak after just a few minutes of high boost.

Well the standard turbo is pushed more or less to its limit so a FMIC will aid it, but even still whether its really beneficial, Im not sure?

When I had this car I did enquire with QST regarding a FMIC but they said it wouldnt really have an impact on performance and to be honest I owned the car for a year, it was just awesome! there are rarely high inlet temps in this country anyway?

I cant see a car suffering from heatsoak that quickly unless you are on the track and it is on boost for a sustained period of time!
