E46 and E36 one's both fit?

i think its e46 80% sure its one or the other not both iam sure someone will put us right very soon

I would have thought it would be a 46 as the boot lids on them are curved, 36's are a bit more straight

Someone put us out of our misery and tell us!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have just stumbled across this, I have made the B pillar trims entirely of carbon fibre. I have thought about making more, just wasn't sure how much interest there is amongst the B5ers? Here's a picture fresh out of the mold, there was a little excess resin in this one, mostly past the end of part line though.

Yeah I am interested. What would the turnaround be on a pair, and if you decided to sell them, how much would you like for a pair?

Ok there seems to be a fair amount of interest for these in CF. I will do some costing tonight and see how much I could supply a pair. It would have to be based on a number of confirmed orders with deposits, leave it with me and i will post something up soon. As far as turn around go's! No idea, I have a full time job working 40+ hours a week so realistically I could churn a pair out everyday or two roughly.

Wing mirrors I'm not sure, I haven't ever seen the inside of one. The problem usually is that there will be a number of clips or mounting tabs within the mirror case, manufacturing those wont be easy in CF I myself wouldn't know how to get round this other than wrapping the original part which usually takes hours to get the finish acceptable at best. Due to the amount of time to make a pair this would make them very expensive. I will go and have a butchers at one now and see if I could make a clip over CF skin.

The B pillars in contrast are relatively straight forward, I would use a fabricated metal piece laminated into the back of the part to attach to the car. Making a number of these would warrant buying a high quality CNC'd mold which is too expensive for 1 off's as you can imagine. The one above was made in an almost sacrificial mold, only get a couple out of it before its knackered.

I will have tiered pricing soon for 5 ply pre preg carbon fibre B pillars which will be perfect replicas of the OEM ones in every way. I will warn you now it wont be cheap if there isn't significant interest! The tooling costs are rediculous and I have to buy this in, but shared between 10 to 20 buyers will relieve the pain.

A bit of a side issue, does anyone have an offside OEM B pillar trim going spare? I will return it or buy it! The paint finish must be almost flawless as this will be used to create a 3D solid model from using a laser scanner, this can then be used to design the mold. Once the design is done it then be CNC machined in MDF or model board.

The wing mirrors is just a pipe dream a previous memebr on here was going to make me some, i even sent him some old mirrors to cover, paid the money and well, i am sure you can guess the rest..........

Any who, price it up, i am sure you will manage a good 10 from here, depends on cost i am in for one. Let us all know, thanks again.

PS don't let this stop you making progress on the beastly engine !!

Carbon Fibre is a bitch for sure if your a perfectionist! Sorry to hear about your mirrors though, be interested to know what you paid him. I will do the maths on the cost and let you know!

Speaking of the engine, 2 large boxes arrived today with 034 motorsport tape all over them, things should take shape rapidly once the balancing is done. ****** cold out there though and the new call of duty is arriving tomorrow!

Count me in, was just about to scan american ebay for the b piller trims but i think i'll hold on now, they look the nuts. How much then if we get 10 peeps interested?,

If its hundreds then count me out!!!!!!!!!!!

the triangular trims on the back doors that always corrode on facelift cars would look good in carbon too.

I am lucky with my trims so far. I did actually just cover the rear ones on my other car as they are a pain to remove
