As above,i have a a3 3.2v6,but its not what i thought it would be at all in terms of speed, its supposed to be 250hnp as standard, but i was having a play with my mate who has a clio v6 230hp standard and he nailed me everytime!
Now i was thinking of trading my a3 in for a s3 but they are quite expensive, what other routes do i have?well i have fitted NOS with a 75hp shot and its pretty good, but i want constant power as in turbo or supercharger power,i have had a look around but cannot seem to find what i need, can someone point me in the right direction please

thanks

Supercharger for sure. You need to look on R32/Golf forums for more guidance as they have the same engine. Theres loads of charged R32's about and its a safe off the shelf kit.

Also I think your 3.2 is 240bhp not 250. The clio will have you all the time due to its weight......saying that a 2.0 172 gave my brothers R32 a good run so watch out for them too!:)

thanks for reply, they are 250hp not 240hp......which forum would you say is the best to go to ??

thanks

The Renault will be 2 -300 kg lighter i imagine, will wipe the floor with the A3 sadly.

Whichever route you take remember that insurance will take a hit too.

You do wonder why people try to tune the A3/S3 to take on light weight hot hatches...they often have a half ton disadvantage before they start !!

too true, roll on the S1 in 2011

Just looked it up, its 363lb's lighter. In other words you need to put two 14 stone blokes in the back of the Clio to balance things up a bit :)

Or this one!

...except that you can't put two 14-stone blokes in the back of a Clio V6 - because that's where the engine is!

The A3 3.2 is (I guess) intended to be a rapid cruiser, but not really for hot hatch mash-ups. If you add power to the engine, you'll need to do the brakes, handling and other components. Personally, I'd accept that the A3 is a smoothie and forget trying to nail hot Clios.

If I were you I'd keep away from Superchargers... I had a VF stage 2 SC on my R32 and it was a death trap! Got rid of the charger as soon as I could and had an HPA turbo fitted. Kit was amazing and was like it had come on the car from factory. Drak a bit of fuel but you'd turn your mates face a little green when you leave him for dust!
You can see pics of both here;

They are expensive, but you get what you pay for!

ld second deckeds response. The VF unit was in a MK5 R32 at my local mod shop and failed within warranty. VF wouldn't honor the warranty, something else to think about.

That's a beautiful car decked!!!

So, a stgII+ S3 vs a HPA turbo R32..which would you say is the better drive?

HPA R32 `v` Stage 2 S3 `v`............err.........Cayman?:)

back on topic....

IMO the Turbo kit doesnt make as much sense on an A3 as it does on a R32.
The R32 is the ultimate performance incarnation of the Golf range, so if you want more beans, and still want to be in a Golf then you have to go forced induction.

If the A3 isnt quick enough for you, and bearing in mind the tuning/running costs and potential reliability issues, I would be tempted to raid the bank and go for an early 8P S3 with a few miles on.

Assuming your car is worth at least 10K and a conversion being 5K? your not far off the cheaper end of 8P S3s.
It wont sound as nice as your V6 but its a fine car with easy access to decent power gains for relatively small outlay.
Worth thinking about.

Cheers
Paul
