Hi ya,if got a bit bored of my A3 and thinking of going down the VR6 route!.Anyone got expericence with the golf VR6?

They sound nice, but they arent particularly quick. Interior is dated, and most are high milers.

From memory, I dont think the VR6 lump is that much heavier than the 2.0, could be wrong on that one though. And the 2.8 is only about half a second quicker to 60 than the 2.0.

It would make a nice second car, a bit of a retro project to keep tucked away in the garage, subtle mods here and there and bring it out when you want some old school fun, not as a daily driver though. Id rather a mkII for that though.

Yeah i think its just the sound of the engine thats making me want one!..i just want something more fun really as i have had a 205 GTi and a MK1 Gti and there where so much fun to drive.Hmmm what to do!!

I had a drive of my mates one in the summer and it was horrible compared to my s3. It felt so loose and handled like crap and his has coilovers. Wasn't as fast as my s3 either. Personally i think if you want to go v6 you should go the R32 route if you can afford it.

Yeah defo the R32 would be awesome to get but out of my budget!..:(

I had one....heavy,very thirsty,torque steer......wish I'd kept it at times.

Maybe i should just keep mine then and just spend a bit more on it.ie coilovers,TT brake upgrade,FMIC,uprated exhaust, recon alloys :)

MK2 VR6:yahoo:

MK3 VR6

MK3 platform is pants simple as, If you can find a nice, Well built mk2 vr6 it will be so much more fun and look 100% better.

If I want something understated but quick and Haldex'd (!), then thats probably going to be high on my list of S3 replacements. Ive never driven one though.

a Mk2 VR6 or a Corrado VR6 if you were to go for one mate, alternatively keep the S3 and keep smiling :)

LOL sorry dude, in that case, get an S3 :)
