Go for eibach pro-kit at about £140

Any of the cheapo ebay specials will make the ride rubbish, it will still ride great on Eibachs

thanks guys, could you possibly suggest the best place to buy these, preferably online, thanks

:scared2: someone has told me that i might need to change my shock absorbers as well as the springs if they are lowering springs!!! could someone please confirm this either way please?

ok im assuming, that as they are a site sponsor, 'dpmperformance' might be a good place to buy a set of lowering springs. only problem i have now is, which ones to go for! any input would be greatly appreciated.

my car is a family car therefore i have children in the back-seat and stuff in the boot at times so i dont want to go too low and have rubbing issues, so how low should i go and on what springs please?

i will be fitting 19" rs4's, this is a picture of one i tried on for size!

Damian@dpm all the way mate, best service this side of the sun, lol, seriously go talk to him, he'll sort you out & for best pricewise I'd go with Eibach Pro 30mm as I have & they're great.

As already said go to DPM i'm looking on getting springs sooner rather than later and DPM were alot cheaper on springs than the places i looked at. I'm going for Eibach 50mm/40mm Sportline £137.75 as i cant justify the extra £94.45 for H&R 50mm £231.70. Your car should look sweet once lowered and with RS4 alloys.

I was planning on getting the 50mm H&R springs. However, looking the the DPM Performance site these don't seem available for the Quattro... I've just mailed Damian but does anyone else have experience of fitting lowering springs to an A3 Quattro?

I wasn't planning on changing the current dampers...

cheers fella, u got a pic there mate of how low it looks, cheers!

Fitting springs to a quattro is just as easy as a FWD car

I've no doubt it's as easy, I was just hoping to fit the 50mm springs and didn't realise 35mm was the limit. Hopefully that'll be low enough for now!

Damien - thanks again for the speedy response!

Is there a thread on fitting springs on the forum or is it really that easy?

I wouldn't attempt it unless you have done it before or are very mechanical minded.

The rears are easy as sin. Two bolts to remove and drop the rear beam, pull out springs, slot in new ones, jack up the rear beam in line wit the bottom of the shock, screw in and away you go. 30-40mins will do the rear springs.

1 hour each or there abouts will do the fronts but its a bit more ticky.

I did a very quick write up the other day on how to do the fronts but its very basic. You have to remove the front calipers, disconnect the droplinks, remove the brake and hub from the drive shaft, undo the 3 bolts on the top mount under the scuttle panel and thats the whole front suspension of one side out.

Remove top mount from suspension, remove standard spring, insert uprated spring, reattach top mount and then reverse process the installation.

Rears are a doddle tbh, fronts just take time & the right tools, get some spring clamps possibly to hold them compressed until fitted into hub & top mounts, just be careful if not done before, as a compressed spring can be a tad dangerous in the wrong hands, lol

Personally the easiest way to swap mounts, springs etc is to just remove the whole hub, I've done mine twice as uprated my shocks/springs & did the hard way by leaving hub attached to car, but 2nd time to change top mounts me & mate did the whole hub route & it was hell of alot easier, really was, just make sure you hang the driveshaft up so it cant get damaged with the weight hanging down

Remove the what! and disconect the who!! i think you made your point clear mate, think i will leave it to the garage to fit

Thanks for letting me know anyway Boydie

In that case i will see if some one can give me a hand and have a go, i suppose all cars are the same with only a slight difference once you have done one.

cheers

Oh sorry for my intrusion chaps
