I must admit... i DO MISS THE AUDI purley coz of the build quality and comfort, but pleasure from the scoob over rides that all day long!!

Once again thanks to mark (byzan) for ya help and support over my lastest mission!!

How is all the old skool ASN crew n e ways?? we all good? sienas car a V8 yet?

i have not gained a massive amout of power figure wise, but the torque is loads more! love it!! cant wait to come down in it mate! :)

Still doing things the Alpine way, huh?

Car looks good, that intercooler looks as big as the radiator in my living room!

Ey up mate,

Good to see you're still chasing those horses! lol
You've got to have your eye on 400HP.. for pub talk if nothing else.

How's life treating you? All good hopefully.

them scooby and all jap engines for that matter always look confusin to me, i wouldnt know where to start with one of them lol the car has a good spec by the sounds of it

one question alpine, would a scoob at that spec do an audi with the exact same spec mate, do they spool up quicker than the audis?????? not the most elaborate question but my S4 is running close to 300bhp and someone says that the scoob(STI) will be a little quicker, not having raced any STI's yet i cant find out the outcome, but i heard jap cars are mental lol

342bhp at the wheels will be WAY over 400bhp. I think my S4 only gets around 325bhp at the wheels, which equates to 415bhp crank.

How much has all this cost Alpine? Must have been a fortune!!!

everything is sweet my man, i think its over 400 at the crank, BHP was calculated by the mappers laptop it aint been on a roller yet.

Thought you'd like this..

sh1tty old bug eye! they weigh more than a cruise ship! lol

spools up alot faster than the Audi did. full 16psi @2950 rpm all the way to 6200. power to weight i think the scoob will pull it off (not being bias) the newer scoobs are heavy tho. My classic weighs just a smidge over a ton now. Audi for comfort and poke, scoob for insanity!!

What's that you say?.. Santa Pod?

yeah baby!!

as said, i aint been on the rollers yet, bhp has been calculated via mapper laptop and road runs etc. will be exsact once on rollers but he said the lappy gives a 20bhp reading either way!

As for cost.. yeh it aint been cheap tho i have had alot of touches. ECU should be over £1400 but i payed £300!! lol FMIC was £100 off me mate with pipework! i changed the engine myself, all the other bit have been through mates and ebay. (gotta mate who owns a scooby garage in essex!) MOT tomorrow, more money!!!

Your car should be a lot of fun,........not classy, but definitely fun

Glad everything's good mate.

Maybe you should be looking for 500HP at the wheels then.. 400 does sound a bit tame now you mention it! ;)

I ran 12.8 at Santa Pod at the last RWYB. The S4 weighs 1700-1800kg I think.

If Alpine's Scooby is over 430bhp (crank) and just over 1000kg I would expect to see it crack 10's. The gauntlet is down! :)

10's??????? Few roadcars achieve that over here.

And aren't S4's around 1550KG?

B5 S4's are around 1500-1550.

Alpine: What boost pressure are you running and what turbo have you got?

I was looking for an OE turbo just recently for a mates Volvo T5 that would do about 400hp, we'd settled on a twinscroll TD05 from an Evo, but being twinscroll its not ideal for a 5 pot.

From letstorquebhp calculator..

Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 430

Weight without Driver (KG) : 1080

Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 404.54

0 - 60 (Secs) : 2.98

0 - 100 (Secs) : 7.67

60 - 100 (Secs) : 4.69

Quarter Mile (Secs) : 11.55

Terminal Speed (MPH) : 122.73

Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 11.15

Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 127.08

Why does Letstorque use the 'without driver' weight? Surely it would be more accurate including the driver.

Plugging in my figures of 1700kg (without driver weight) I get a 1/4 mile drag time of - 12.92

After checking on the t'interweb i've found an S4 weight of 1680kg, plus my weight of 90kg gives a 1/4 mile drag time of - 12.86... almost bang on the money!

Although letstorque BHP states 0-60 of 4.68 whereas I actually managed closer to 4.2.

But still.... Alpine's car is the fastest in the world eva!!!

the S4is about 1515KG but with me in it id say its about 1700KG lol

I would imagine it's so you can make a fair comparison between cars.. as obviously the driver weight is a variable depending on who is driving at the time.

I was pulling some legs. You should take those figures with a pinch of salt really.

Max BHP isn't truly indicative of how fast a car is. You could have two cars with the same peak BHP but massively different torque curves which would produce totally different results. Also, with so many options on these modern cars, the kerb weight is very variable. My Recaros weigh loads more than my standard seats did.

Alpine - your motor does sound like a beast though. Even when mine was tuned to around 380bhp, a mate of mine had a totally standard Subraru STI estate(supposed to be 270 bhp I think) and I could only just keep up with it up to around 70. With all those bits and pieces, I would expect it to seriously shift. What sort of MPG do you get?

2 cars with similar pwoer and weight...comes down to gearing.
scooby have 6 gears or five?
car with 5 longer gears will usually be a bit swifter in a 1/4 mile, less changing

mine has a jdm WRX box that come with the JDM bottom end, all 5 gears!

Ello dude. How's tricks?

tricks are good mate thanks, how about your self.

As for the weight, there has been alot of un-needed stuff removed. steel bonnet replaced with ali, ali boot, AC system removed etc. altho i still have seats and carpets (as its still a family car) the sound deadning, plastic runners and littlerally, if i could get away with taking it out i did! Even down to the fuel filler door, was steel, now plastic!! lol every little helps!

sorry didnt reply. im running a VF35 @ a safe 16psi. 18 peak!
