what performance mods can i do to my 2.0 tdi 140?

im going to be getting a AMD remap soon, but was thinking of what else will bring good gains.

whats the difference with the 170? has it got a larger turbo? can this be fitted to the 140?

just want to see whats out there, if i can get it to about 200bhp id be happy...

You can do all your normal car mods... remap, hybrid turbo, exhaust air filter etc.. check amdessex.com for full details.

Difference between 170 and 140 is just the turbo (from what i have read skimming over this thread)

Stage 1 remap will add 40ish so that with the downpipe & an air filter will get you atleast 190bhp (thats that im hoping for anyway)

standard remap will get you 175-180 hp
adding any filter/exhaust etc isnt going to get you any more power unless you get a custom remap to add more fuel (thats the way diesels work) - about £350-500

a custom remap with panel filter and decat and rear box might get you about 200hp but its going to double the cost probably

the next step is the full hybrid - big turbo, decat downpipe, panel filter, rear box and custom remap - going to give 230-245 hp for about £1200-1500

Didnt realise that... i thought it would make like a 10bhp difference.

In that case, is there any point me getting a de-cat downpipe with my stage 1 remap?

Nope none at all. Are you guys talking about a PD140 or the newer common rail 140 TDI as the engine and tuning is totally different.

Decat downpipe increases turbo spoolup speed doesnt it? and affect your fuel consumption? :readit:

surely low-level tuning is not going to be "totally different"?

mines a PD 140 by the way...

on a pd140 with standard turbo you are unlikely to notice any increased spoolup with a decat or downpipe, and even if it was there its not going to make any significant difference compared to say a remap

on the pd 140 with a remap, adding other airflow tuning like a filter or exhaust will add zero power - and at this level the filter and exhaust are barely limiting factors anyway so a waste of money per hp gained

downpipe/cat/filter wont affect fuel consumption - only a chip or tuning box that add more fuel (along with a heavier right foot) will do that.

theres no point getting 35-40hp for £350 then spending £30-50 on an air filter that will get you between 0 and 2hp if anything

for value, the options are:
1) simple remap - adds hp for little £350-500 for 35-40hp (£10 per hp)

2) full hybrid bolt-on turbo with decat or downpipe, rear silencer, panel filter and custom remap £1500 or so for +90-100hp (£15 per hp)

3) even bigger bolt-on turbo with exhaust manifold, custom air, oil and water pipes, downpipe/exhaust, full air inlet etc - £5k to £7k for about 260-280hp maybe (£35 per hp at least)

Sorry i am wrong to state totally different. I would edit my post but cannot do it for some reason on this weird site?

lol yeah this site is a bit strange sometimes! you open a thread up and it starts with newest first, then next time its oldest first etc its a bit random.

starting oldest first is always best IMO.

anyways, thatnks for the info, i think i'll just leave it to a re-map then, its the best bang for your buck :rockwoot:

Yeah ASN has definitely got quite random but at least the site hasn`t gone off line in the last three days so it`s doing well.
