Hi can anyone suggest a company that can get the most power and torque from my stock a4 special edition via a remap.

What sort of bhp and torque should I expect from a remap alone? Stock bhp is 220.

I am based in Kent but will travel to London/ Southampton or Essex.

Thanks James

I had mine done last week by Chip-N-Spin at the Chipped UK headquarters in Bromsgrove, went from stock (217BHP..not 220 BTW :icon_thumright:)..to 262 BHP. rolling road figures confirm this.

Thanks for getting back. I take it that it has transformed the car?

Its a shame its a little to far away though. What sort of price did this remap cost?

Thanks James

Hiya S-Line Wales. Is your car a 2wd or quattro. If it is 2wd does it wheel-spin a lot? How is the mpg after remap and if u don't mind me asking how much was it? Sorry for a million questions but was thinking of doin my car which is 2wd, but was worried i'd be going thru front tyres very quick?

I'm in the market for a remapon my 2.0t A4 special edition too but live near Glasgow so chip n spin are just to far away....gutted as they seem like the right guys for the job.

Think I'll end up going with Angel tuning as there doesn't appear to be any group buys or discounts from the better known companies up here and they do seem to be chaqrging an awful lot!

That's not a bad increase - did you go for their economy or performance option, and if you don't mind me asking, how much was it?

Theres been mention of another remap company on this site and some good feedback about them too. Pendle Performance. http://www.pendleperformance.com/
Still a good way from Glasgow..... but not too far for a day out and a chance to see how good the remap is on the way back!!
An extra 40/42 bhp seems to be the common gain with a tiny increase in mpg during the times your not using the extra ooomph...

I have a FWD A4, I went for the Fast Road Map with Chip N Spin, which is the middle map they offer in terms of performance, If your right foot is heavy (or TC is set to off) then the front wheels will spin, but if you are able to drive correctly then this is not a problem. Price was £250 inc before and after rolling road runs. The remap took approx 40 mins in total including RR runs. Most companies seem to be around the same in terms of BHP & torque improvements with regard to remaps, and the map I had was bang on the 45bhp increase that was quoted. Having only just had the map..just over a week, I couldnt comment on tyre wear, but again this would be down to your individual driving style and if you constantly floor it and spin the front wheels then what are you going to expect..as far as mpg is concerned I see a minor improvement so far, again only having had the map a week or so then this will possibly improve, though TBH I didnt have a fast road map for fuel economy reasons..if your looking to save fuel then they also do an economy map which offers improvements and reasonable power increases..depends on what you want...

Hope this info is of some use to you all..any further questions feel free..

Finally bit the bullet and got Angel tuning coming to the house tomorrow to remap my car, it's a A4 2.0t quattro Special edition "217bhp".

The tuner reckons it's gonna be about 250-260bhp and also shout add 60lbs foot torque. All in all it sounds good but the proof of the pud is in the eating.

I'll post up how it goes when I've had a few days to get used to it.

Any questions about the car or tuner I'll be happy to answer if I can.

Andy D - did you get the re-map done? Verdict?

Yip, got it done, what a difference!

The drive is still very smooth with no lumpiness on idle, the pull is much harder for much longer in every gear and got to the point I had to slow for a long sweeping bend I normally take while still accelerating.

There is a very small flat spot in 5th gear about 5000rpm but this is part of the rev range I rarely see, might just be a coil pack or DV fault, I spoke to the tuner about it and he told me to let the map settle for a bit then take it back to him in a week or so if it continues.

I'm delighted with the power as it's obviously well up on standard and still progressive, just with a lot more oomph.

The mapper(Paul) from Angel tuning was a gent and knew his stuff as he also runs fiat/alfa workshop specialising in performance upgrades as well as software upgrades.

Well worth the money so far!

Can I ask how much it cost? I have the same car on an 07 plate.......very tempted!

It was £325 to start with, I got a 15% discount due to my job, if you are armed forces or emergency services they'll do a 15% discount, came to £275.

Drove to glasgow and back today (60 miles) and according to the DIS i was getting 37mpg average. I was only doing 65-70mph on the motorway leg of the journey which equates to about 240 miles of the journey.

Very happy indeed.
