Anyone ever fitted a GPS Shark fin antenna?

The reception on the radio (RNS-E) is shocking, has anyone fitted a genuine shark fin to their B6 before? if so was it nay easy job, where did you source the parts from and how much did it cost you?

Never fitted one but bought all the parts as I was going for RNS-E. It's simple really ad long as you ate comfortable drilling the roof. I have the parts you need for sale, if you wish - yours for £35. I also may be able to get someone to fit it for you over your way if you didn't want to tackle it yourself, would just need to check with him first if you were interested and see what he'd charge.

Isn't the sharkfin just for the GPS and telephone reception and not for the radio?

It does 3 things dependent on sharkfin used, Tel, GPS & Aux heater for remote on/off, but for me it for some strange reason makes the car look better, lol.,

I agree it does, that was the main reason I fitted one to my last sportback:icon_thumright:

Does it give the Rns-e better reception rather (can it see more satellites) than the under the dash location as per the usual retrofit?

It might give you an extra sateillite but its more of an aesthetic reason overall as the magnetic one does the gps antenna for nav no problem at all.

lol no, my Fridays eves are spent at the Lodge with a few of my brothers, Iv seen a few roofs messed up in my valeting bay,

lol, thats not exactly a good advert for your valeting business, lol, if they get ripped of then thats some force as I know what it is that holds them on, trust me it needs some effort to rip that out with the size of nut & thread used to hold on roof.

lol, no i ment when people have stuck on fake fins and kids have ripped them off taking the paint with the glue, iv had to re-mop the roofs when the car comes out from the paint shop,

But we're talking about genuine fitment with holes in the roof, not stuck on rubbish, lol.
