hi all

I have been today to have my stainless done following that blocking up and glowing the turbo and manifold.
They took me through what i was after and how they would do it and off they went.
They then came to me 1hr or so later asking if i have had power loss? the bloke who had been working on my car then showed me what he had found in the Cat.
Didnt take much to see it was my waste gate valve he had in his hand :scared2:
The front half of the stainless is all done from dead turbo back {decatted} looks cool{will get some pics on here asap.
I had to put the other half off due to what was found in the cat, the car was smoking its *** off on tic over and smoky going home.

What type and were could i get a new turbo quick, i already had plans to remap but now need to sort this asap.

bit of advise on the turbo would be good at this moment in time.

My wastegate flap broke/melted off also on my stock K03. Try picking up a used K03 if you need one asap. Also look into a test pipe. Dont know how strict they are over there about exhaust fumes and whaty not but get rid of that cat!

i can sort the test mot issue with no probs and the cat is already gone, had it took off this morning doiing the stainless.

if i was to go for new would this fit straight on ?

don't risk those cheap chinese copy turbos

various turbo dealers have stock of these turbos

turbo technics picked mine up 30 mins after I asked them to - amazingly quick, will see what they find

on selecting a turbo depends what you want?

stay K03 or go K03s or K04

the std K03 will remap to 200bhp est

the K04 will go to 250bhp but you will need intercooler, custom remap and injectors, probably exhaust sorting too

i think the turbo technics catalogue quotes £695 for a k03

my budget would prob push to £300 and i know thats not a lot to start looking for a new turbo with but looking at used as well as new
 
i'd have to sell limbs to pay for a turbo at the moment...lol

lol im sure i will be ok driving with one arm and i did get a good price for the arm; as long as i dont have to sell the other or a leg as well i will manage lol

Ye, its most certainly not done 90000 miles, and that rubber hose would never be connected like that on any stock fitment.

It also looks too shiney, and the triangle that should have the KKK logo looks to be empty.

Send it back and get onto lee, at least you'll only need to do the job once, rather again in 2 weeks when that selfdestructs.

i can get it fitted at work for nowt thats not a prob, the bloke did say it has had a new blow off side?

is the one Lee is selling used,new, recon and would that be same power and bolt on job as well?

Yeh that turbo is a fake K03 no KKK sign in the triangle

My blue tag is missing where I had my sroll conversion done and yes this is a K04 but the markings are all the same and that turbo is not.

Thanks for the info,i wasnt sure how to tell if they are fake turbo's or not but that sorts that problem for future ref.
I just wanted a turbo as cheap as poss just to get the car back on the road to be honest and hopfully it will do the job till i can sort something better out.
fingers crossed it works better than mine does at the moment, then at least im mobile again because its realy p***ing me off now walking past my car to get it the Mrs 1.4 pug 306.
i will let you know how i get on and when it is back on ebay for sale lol.
 
The waste gate seems to be one of the main problems and the shaft tends not to be balance so it will only be a matter of time.

my new turbo{used}has just landed and its f**ked before i even get it on there.
there is loads of play in the shaft and the waste gate side is full of oil.
I have just emailed the bloke who assured me it worked fine on his car but this i doubt very much looking at the movement in the shaft.

I will have to wait till i get mine off and see what the damage is to that and see what the bloke says.

Well if the guy is reasonable and will refund you maybe half as a good will gesture, maybe you can hybridise one turbo from the both.

The guy has emailed me back and said he will send another shaft/fins inside bit lol off the original kkk one he had before he got the copy.

That would then mean i have 3 insides{1 knacked} 1 good original cool side, 1 copy cool side, 1 knacked back exhaust side and 1 good exhaust side

What do you guys think on this? would i pull a bit of money back from my audi original in good working order

Or would i be better just putting everything I have on ebay and see what i get but tell them exactly what they are going to get.
 
The question is why did he fit the copy in the first place? It might indicate his used bit is just as shafted as the copy. Seems he's also admitted its a copy now, which goes against his original auction title?

I'd say a partial refund, and use the good exhaust housing with your original core is the most sensible way to go, selling the complete turbo once you fit lees, or a full refund, fit Lee's blower streight off and put yours on ebay saying that the turbos in good condition, it just needs another exhaust housing.

If he sends you the other internals, you still cant make any more than one good turbo? So your no better off than you are now?
 
He could make a turbo assuming Karl gets to keep the copy as is to rape the exhaust manifold from it. That way no more cash to pay to get the car on the road for now. That gives Lee time to remove the Scroll and Karl will be mobile and have something to sell later to offset his expenditure so far maybe?

A full refund has gone back into my paypal and email from the dude asking is i want to pay £30 and keep the turbo lol

me being the cheaky so and so i am have sent him email back saying i will give him £20 and end the matter there lol

My gran always said if you dont ask ya never know lol

I take it Lee has still got the turbo on his car then?

I would go with what you lads are saying and make a good un out of mine and then sell it on when Lee is sorted to send his.

mmmmmmmmmm £20 sounds a bit much now ive sat and thought a bit lol but in all fairness he was more than happy to rip me off big time.
 
we have come to agreement and the bloke is sending me another centre shaft fins ect and i have now paid him £20 for the lot.

im just waiting for Lee to get back to me and see what time scale he is thinking to pass his turbo on and then i know if it as worth me waiting or getting the turbo's stripped to try and make one good one out of all the bits.

does anyone know if i would have to buy a seal kit or anything to make one good turbo out of all the bits if i decide to go down that road just to get my car back on the road and incase Lee needs a bit more time time to get him self sorted at his end.

Nah the exhaust housing will once undone, come off. Make sure you mark the orientation of it, or pipes and brackets may not fit,lol

Might be worth an overnight saok in some releasing oil to allow ease of dissasemmbly
