If i bought a scrap facelift 1.8t sport (very cheap) how difficult and how much work do you think it would be to move everything from that car onto mine?
Bose, Remote Locking, ECU, Wireing, Dash with DIS etc?

My current chasis is in good nic, and the enigne has had a complete rebuild so dont want to replace it just update. I could move my stuf into the spares or repair car but i prefurr mine as its black.

Cheers :)

is it an AEB and what condition is the turbo in?

I am after one! :D

i wouldnt say it would be a hard job, just a big one.

You'd basically need to strip both cars interiors out, and move the entire harness over, then go thru transferring each component thats been updated.

Even things like the Airbag ECU's are different, so you'd need to transfer those over along with the facelift column and wheel etc...

if its the silver ebay one ill be bidding and i rarely loose! (unless my computer freezes again with 15 sec to go as it did yesterday)

it would involve a lot of work virtually everything is different on a facelift so it would mean stripping both to bare shells

FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT.

Sadly as said, you would need to strip them pretty much to shells.

Been there and done that to update the purple car to mostly facelift.

Fair enough i might as well save up for a facelift then. :)

i want the slam panel, bumpers, a/c control, heated seat harness and bose everything else broken if i win?
reckon price will triple in the next few hours

Just saying words really things i saw on the car that could be swapped.

SOLD for £776 did you get it olds?

ya and looks well soiled if its black i might be interested in some bits

Would you be willing to sell the bonnet to someone in need?

Gotta say though, that interior looks blue... just like mine. Very dark blue, almost black.

probably is blue then, has yours got velour seats aswell?

whats up with your bonnet?

depending on whats up with turbo i might fix it up and swap some parts with mine dont know yet but its never going to be a minter so im sure we could sort something out

ras, soiled might be an understatement but discovered 'flash with bleach' will clean just about anything, used it on interior of kingfisher and it looked like new but you have to dilute it though

Awesome! I don't mind coming over to Stoke and doing a trade on the bonnet (and front bumper if you're not going to use it). My interior a very dark blue, but it's all leather.

The bonnet has some shallow dents in it (from the previous owner shutting the bonnet too hard) and a few scrapes where something's gone across it at some point, and the bumper is stone chipped, with a single scrape down the drivers side. Probably sounds worse than it actually is, but if I've got the chance of swapping panels over instead of painting them, it would be fantastic!

Semi-excited now! (in a non-sexual way)

Nice one that is a bargin you could sell the engine if in good nic for half that. The interior is blue from what i can see in the pictures.

all depends on what condition its in
guy reckons turbos knackered and he just parked it in his garage for 2 years? he didnt even disconnect battery and hasnt attempted to start it
just parking it up for that long cant be good for tyres brakes etc

its looking like any day next week
seller wouldnt accept paypal so ive done bank transfer online as i wont be picking it up myself
used www.shiply.com for transport quotes, quite good its a reverse auction, you put ebay item number in and then transport companies send bids, its all on view so each quote gets slightly lower

WOW thats a great idea how far is it from your place and how much did u get to ship it for?

That's a really clever idea.

Let me know when you've got your sticky mitts on it and we can talk turkey about the bonnet (if you are still up for doing a trade on mine).

was more aimed at old_skool mate, as he said he specifically wanted to swap those components over...

i fitted bose amp and speakers to my saloon (cost me nothing) and it was an improvement over standard
as im unemployed i cant justify spending money on speakers amps etc.. so if its free and it makes a slight improvement ill fit it

also my days of driving with choons at full blast are well behind me, now its more radio 2 and whenever i switch to cd i get a choice of 6 different 80's power bollards cd's thanks to my mrs:sadlike:

Would you sell all the bose stuff from this on?? I would fit it as you said its an improvement over standard and i can not be bothered with other amps and installs etc.

Its not really free if you just paid £750 for the car now is it :p

Fair enough though, just seems a lot of effort to fit something thats not actaully that good.

I dont really listen to blasting tunes either, our motor has a pioneer head unit that iirc cost about 40quid on ebay, the stock door speakers, and a sub in the boot in a fibreglass enclosure with a sony amp that was another ebay special.

Taking the bass load off the main speakers makes them handle the rest of the range much better, and the sub provides a nice bit of punch. I found the Bose system in craigs S4 to sound a bit "muddy". Its as though theres a hidden EQ somewhere thats rammed the bass controls up thru the roof, and it just doesnt sound that nice to me.

you got the car now, kev? whats your plans?

being delivered wednesday, depends whats up with it, if its an easy fix ill be keeping it and selling the tdi avant
