As per title what would i need to get 250 bhp out of my 1.8 QTS, i know i'll need a k04 or gt28 with matching manifold but do i need to go front mount intercooler or can i just use one from an s4 or similar, do i need to change the injectors and will the stock exhaust need to be changed, obviously a remap to get everything setup correctly

S4 uses a pair of sidemount intercoolers and people seem to get good results off teh E-Bay front mounts which can be picked up for as little as £180.

From there though I'm not sure as I'm looking for more power myself

might just get a hi flow cat and exhaust and a remap and see what that does for now as i think the 250 bhp will end up costing over 2k from what i've been researching and by upgrading those bits its a good start if i want more later

Mine jumped from 148bhp to 178bhp off a remap. Added a cone filter and a back box which nudged me to 181bhp and since then I've removed the centree silencer and improved the flow of air through the intercooler. We'll see in a few weeks what effect that has had.

bought mine at 180bhp :)

KO4 kits
PM Docurley, he knows a bit about the inline Ko4

front mounts are cheap, you will need injectors,
what engine is in it now? 150bhp Ko3? what year? DBW or DBC?

To get 250bhp out of a K04 you will need a hybrid like the Scrol SP51 Outlaw which will bolt straight on to the stock Manifold. You will also need 3" TT MAF and a set of 386 TT injectors and dont forget the FMIC, then add on a custom map.

With the K03, it depends how hard you want to push it, i am sure nearly 250 has been made but with nearly 30psi of boost, water/meth injection, the works. This was not a daily driver. I will find the linky on the 'zine somewhere.

A scroll Sp1x will set you back £500(ish) FMIC(£200) Hiflow cat/exhaust(£300-400) Custom Map (£500 ish) Injectors used (£100) you get the picture.
The main advantage of the Scroll, is that its a bolt on alternative and will work with the std style TIP and exhaust etc
A t28 on the other hand will net you closer 300 BHP and will still require the above mods.Plus a replacement exhaust manifold.possibly larger injectors again, larger MAF and a bespoke TIP Its a good option if you don't already have a full flow exhaust and performance parts for your K03, as it will cost much the same.

If however you already have some goodies on your K03, then the Scroll will make use if them

Mines a 2000 plate with throttle cable ko3s AJL engine with 180bhp as standard, think my mates got a set of injectors as he was going to build a 350bhp caddy but sold everything except the injectors.
Mines just standard only just got it so getting it upto a good standard starting point first i.e cambelt kit, water pump, service, standard air box back on as the previous numpty fitted a cone filter, and a new 710n dv and n75j valve was going to get it remapped at amd in essex then see what else i can do for extra power

If you JUST want 250, then a scroll will do the job, if you want 250+ then you may struggle with one.

It should be capable of 270-280hp, but the most power we've ever seen from one is 243hp, although that was on stock maf and injectors and a shady remap.

They are pretty good value though...

Going from the AEB's 330cc/min injectors to the TT ones doesnt seem worth it if they're only 383cc/min. They also dont fit the injector rail.
Vauxhall Astra VXR injectors are cheap, will flow 475cc/min at 3bar, and should drop streight into the AEB fuel rail!

They seem like an awesome source of cheap injectors that do pretty high flow rates. Probably good for 350hp at 4 bar i would think.

I'll be watching this thread with interest. I'm perpetually saying things like "coming soon" and "not long now" but never get around to doing anysoddingthing to my car.

Additionally, it's sitting too high which is eating away at my soul.

I'm doing pretty well at the "being a responsible boyfriend" ledger of life, but fairly cack in the "having any fun" side of things.

If anyone has a way of sucking 200 brake out of an AEB on thripence ha'penny, please let me know....

I know how you feel got a baby and planning another in new year so had to sell my toy so i got an a4 1.8qts as a familly car which i can play about with a little but trying to work out what to do first and what i can afford, a remap is cheep, so is a front mount intercooler but the real gains are with a turbo upgrade and exhaust and i've yet to see a nice exhaust for a 2000 plate quatro sallon for less than £500 and a turbo is about the same money, then the brakes will want doing here comes anothe £15k project by looks of things

audinary: take advantage of that £99 remap that was posted recently... Should have you nicely on the way to 200hp.

what size exhaust would be best a 2.5" or 3" as 034 list opne in each size, i'll do the that and a front mount then do the turbo at a later date, but the less back pressure the better on a turbo isn't it

would have to agree, had my first 1.8t 'chipped' for £99 easily the best money ive ever spent on a car, the difference was unbeleivable for the price
unless youve added bigger turbo etc.... i wouldnt see the point in spending £500 on a custom remap jobbie that would only make a couple of bhp more than the £99

do it !!!!!!!!
