Hi all, What do you guys think is the best panel air filter for S3 BAM? I've just brought a Forge 007p Dumpvalve and want a air filter to go with it before i get a REMAP :yahoo:. Don't know which one is best, some say Pipercross, some say Greenfilter, What do you guys think?
Thanks For Your time Johnny:kissmyrings:

the original one is good for 300 bhp

Thought you might get abit more sound with a panel, don't really want an induction kit. What are you using?

I am running with an ITG carbon fibre induction kit

Would you say induction kits are better to have?

no I would stick with what you have Johnny

Ok thanks mate, just looking forward to remap with revo now. Think i'm going to go to Volkscraft in exeter for it.:kissmyrings:

make sure you change the spring in the Forge DV,Revo all the way :)

You'll get a little more of a darth vader sound with an uprated panel filter, ie green cotton...

I haven't got it just yet but i'll let you know mate

Jason you got any pics of the itg, never seen one.
Yeah yellow spring is recommened when remapping but alot keep the green.

I bought a yellow spring, tried it out and prefered my original green one...

sorry bit off post

Not sure what spring colour I have in my 007 (will check this weekend), but what's the effect (in performance terms) of changing it?

I've read the words on the Forge link above, which all makes sense, but in real terms what's the difference in the driving performance of the car? Is there a noticeable difference when changing eg from a green to yellow spring?

I have a 265bhp remap.

It's easy to imagine different things are happening with your car when you change and you can convince yourself something is better or worse...

What I found was when changing gear the car felt smoother with the yellow but didn't have the go of the green, I knows it's only my rough guide but i time how many seconds it takes for car to go from 70-90mph in 6th gear, with the yellow the car was consistantly 2 seconds slower, just didn't seem to have that instant torque...also a bridge on a certain road gives me a good indication of how my car is running, with the yellow I was about 5mph slower...

I know people may slate my own tests but you know your own car and you know when something doesn't feel right...I'm always interested in making my car quicker on the cheap and I would honestly say this mod didn't improve the performance of my car, it may do some peoples car, I suppose map could play a part, all I knows is I changed the spring back to green at the first opportunity...

I did speak to Jabba also and he advised me to leave my dv alone, curiosty got the better of me and I tried it anyway...wasn't impressed though...

Ive got an itg panel filter en route to me.
Had ITG socks on my old carbed fiesta, nice company to deal with.

Is your S3 remapped Leggy?

Yes it is Jonny, my car just didn't seem to agree with the yellow, by rights according to the springs resistance with psi it should of, but didn't...just seemed like the car was holding back more especially in the higher gears...

Oh yeah, and if you do have the wrong spring it can either release to much air or hold to much which in turn can damage your Turbo...
