VCDS or RNS-E ??? Need An Opinion

Hi Fellow Members,

Been thinking of buying both VCDS cable and Rns-e for a while now but at the moment cashflow is abit tight as ive invested money on some other stuff ... So as the title states i need your opinion shall i buy Vcds cable or Rns-e ??... Personally i would like to go for Rns-e and buy Vcds cable in december ... But im not sure i.e will i need vcds cable to do the coding for Rns-e ... Little input by you lot would be appreciated. :icon_thumright:

Defo RNS-e

There is always someone with a cable hanging around that can help you out with the coding.

Search for a good RNS-e (latest model at best) and if it matches your cash limit go for it!

There are always going to be available cables, good priced RNS-e not so many!
So start searching

I'd say the same, get the RNS-E as it's something you'll use a hell of a lot more than the VCDS cable.

Bit of a weird comparison though as there's such a huge price difference.

RNS-E & when you have more spare cash PM me for the genuine cable mate as I sell these, but rns definitely as beer tokens to code now by someone, but definitely after buy the genuine cable, vcds is best buy for car tbh but rns would be rather pleasing on eye I cant disagree.

Lol you are right there sir but then you got to have rns-e in an audi it is a must have thing or else the boring audi concert system sometimes makes you feel like you sitting in a skoda ...

Btw what particular kind of rns-e should i be searching for ??

Thats the RNS-e used in the MY09 cars, so not the MY10 with the AMI option.

The "2nd Generation" is very rare and extremely overpriced. Well since there are so few
the price makes some sense

Go for one with the chrome buttons, preferably 2008-2009 model!

I know someone that would do cheaper than £300 mate, let me know if you want my help, I would offer to do but in italy, I trust him 100% & he's good.

Does gareth supply all looms, etc to complete job as I thought he charged extra for some of these things & the £300 was just labour.

Personally I don't see the attraction with them. I can see why others do, but not that much! Not even for £50.

Its one of them things until on the car & possibly with the newer style fascia aswell it might not appeal, but when in car, in use daily you start to really appreciate the subtle change, it does look better on the eye as do the newer fascia button style that at 1st I thought urm maybe not, but now wouldnt change them back at all, look loads better & when new climate fitted which I have now bought then will be complete & that area finished for me until next new car

Would never spend anything like £195 on them anyway! You could buy a VCDS cable for that!
