N8 KOW v Corsa VXR New Car Prep

My bro picked the car up last tuesday from Grasmere Vauxhall, and I specifically told them not to touch I was going to prep the car with him. He got a cracking deal on my car, thanks to Andy, anybody looking to buy a VXR, make sure you see Andy @ Grasmere!

Just 12 miles on the clock

On to the mods, first we changed the tax disc holder for a Richbrook one. Out with the old:

In with the new:

Next up we de-badged & de-wipered the rear, taking off "Corsa" & "VXR" leaving the all important "vauxhall" badge in the middle - lol

Then we installed the HIDS. We went for 6k as they are close enough to oem xenons, can bus ones with a slim digital ballast they were quite easy to install. They look really blue in the pics, but they look spot on in the flesh. Later added white LED sidelights, that look cool too.

Next was to get rid of the fried egg indicator look, before:

That is a great mod for really little money, makes an instant difference and just makes the car look alot cleaner. I have ordered the clear side repeaters so they will get installed as soon as they arrive.

On with the detail, first I took the wheels off, to clean & seal:

'Bilberry' wheel cleaner was used to clean the wheels:

Then rinsed:

The backs were cleaned, alot of grease & transport wax, so tardis was used to remove, then rinsed:

The wheels were then dried:

2 x coats of Autoglym Super Resin Polish for the backs of the wheels:

Then buffed off:

1 coat of AG SRP on the front, and then 1 coat of poorboys wheel sealant:

Then buffed off:

Next the arches were seen to:

Megs APC sprayed into the arches & brake caliper:

Cleaned with arch brush:

Then rinsed:

Then dried:

Aerospace 303 used to dress the arches:

Then buffed off:

Wheels put back on the car:

Then quickly wiped over again:

All 4 wheels completed:

Then we moved onto the wash stages, here was the general dirt we were faced with, it wasn't too bad.

Using Megs APC to remove all transport wax off the paintwork, sprayed on and rinsed off a total of 3 times:

Then rinsed off:

Then the car was snow foamed, using valet pro, lovely and thick:

Car was then washed using Megs Shampoo Plus & Shmitt:

Then rinsed again :

Car was then clayed using Sonus Green & Megs Last Touch:

Alot of contamination around the car:

Windows were done as well:

Car was then rinsed/foamed/rinsed/washed then rinsed again:

Then car was dried using Sonus drying towel & Last Touch

Blackfire was used to dress the tyres:

Autosol was used with wirewool to clean the exhaust surround:

Then megs nxt metal polish:

Buffed off:

Then the paintwork received our full attention, first there was 1 layer of Clearkote Moose Vanilla Glaze:

Buffed off:

Then Jeffs Werkstatt Prime Sealant was the next coat:

Then finally the big boy came out, Swissvax 'Best Of Show'

Car was looking GLEAMING at this point

The engine bay was the wiped over with APC:

Dressed with 303:

Looking good & standard, for now :

Even the stickers were left on the sills 8)

Took one of the covers off, to reveal one of my favourite things about this car, the "Buckets"

Car needed a good hoover:

All panels wiped over with Megs APC:

Buckets were finally revealed, I'm in love

Buffalo Protector applied to the leather:

Glass was polished with Sonus Glass Polish:

Seals were 'sealed' with Jeffs Prime:

The rubbers were treated with Poorboys natural look dressing, and then she was done, here are the finishing pics:

The paintwork was just so smooth and the reflections were unreal:

Remember the transport wax on this seal, before:

So there you have it. It was a long hard days work, took us around 9/10 hours. I've got a lot of plans for this car, you'll just have to watch this space

I will, our home is close to Castle combe and my brother has a season ticket to watch the racing there, so no doubt he'll take it there once he's start modding it

The rarest colour, and the best colour. Cheers Jon, well my little bro specced those wheels, they are really nice and suit, so it'll be getting lowered and spaced, then he'll be transforming the 189bhp to about 250bhp

Really, 1 friend of mine had both and said corsa was a little rocket! Anyway, I'll find out in 2010.
