New number plate LED

mmm seems that way, there is some exception though, golf mk5? very similar to A3, up to you if you want to try and be the test mule!

Whats the worse that could happen ?

... you'll have to solder in a resistor.

There are apparently LED bulbs out there that really do not throw bulb out warnings. I just got a set for the side markers, only issue being that they are decidedly blueish in tint like most cool white LED's.

Good luck.

Great find! I may get some of these.

The worst that would happen is they don't work and you complain and get a refund I would hope.

cryypic23, Let me us all know how you get on would be interested in a pair of these if they work...

tbf you don't have to solder a resistor for the number plate, just bend it around and it's fine. much less effort than it sounds.

thats exactly what i done, if you bend it round neatly n tightly then there is no worries! works exactly the same and take about 1 min

Ok so i have run these bulbs for the last 24 hours and have had no issues what so ever Sorry the pic is so crap , rubbish iphon3 3g camera ! taken tonight.

Yes mate will get the digi camera out tomorrow daylight and night time.

They are based in macclesfield , you can order them on line use the discount code "COLLECTION" if you are near enough to collect , and then no postage charge. The discount code does not give a discount , just avoids postal charge as i live only 15 miles away.

They are very very white those look blue , to my eyes they are totally different , i will get a better pic tomorrow , i would do it now but i need the lead from camera to my mac which is at work , ill pop in and grab it tomorrow.

Edit : is that a blue car ? ****** edit again , just remembered your car is blue !

My car is very blue yes mate lol

Ok another question: How happy with them are you on a scale of 1-10?

so far its a 10 , strait up.

Hi Mate ,

Have you got a post code for where they are based as i cannot find any info on their site .. Im in manchester tomorrow might go visit them i.e if they are open on saturdays.

Thanks

My mistake these are not from macclesfield , sorry i picked up some festoon interior LED's from these guys Ultraleds.co.uk in macclesfield.

I think they are in london no address on there site. Sorry about that i have been on a spending spree last few days. Lots and lots of mods happening all at the same time at the moment.

Ordered :icon_thumright:

Ordered a pair of the W5Ws in 'Pure white' and a pair in 'Cool white' too. I'll post the results in Toby's thread to try and keep it as THE source of LED information.

Cheers mate :respekt:

No they do not show a fault and no resistors are required , i have tried a couple of different ones , but these seem to work like a dream.

That is strange , mine is still fine , silly question but did they give the dis fault strait away ?

These lights are no go on mine .. They look well nice but they giving a DIS error .. :motz:

Sal

I have no idea why this is happening on your car only mate.

I'm still waiting for mine as they sent them to my billing address rather than the shipping address which was clearly on the invoice.

Ive just spoken to the guy at convert 2 xenon and he said they are not compatiable with facelift .. and they are working on the solution and yes its got to do with the built in resistor .. they tried to change the lay out but the heat was too much that it melted the LED .. so they have offered me refund .. but to be honest they look well nice :crying:

Yup , the minute i switch on the ignition and i switched on the lights .. the error poped up in DIS.

Sal

hmmm just had a thought, when I coded crypric's facelift sport back lights i altered some coding in one of the modules to do with cold diagonostics maybe this is an issue.
Mine are on order thanks Patrick, as I left my set of leds with resistors in the A3 when i sold it. Ill let you know how I get on

There's a bit of confusion here. Those festoon bulbs from GXX will NOT work in the numberplate lights in an 8P without resistors.

They're the ones I bought.
